There is no better destination to travel and spend your holiday than Odisha and the Northeast if you want to engage with traditional culture, learn about tribal rituals, and meet the people. On this tribal tour, you'll visit villages, meet the tribes, and learn about their culture and traditions. The tour involves going to weekly markets, going to amusement parks, going on a hike, and many other things all rolled into one. Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Bhubaneswar

Arrive in Bhubaneswar. Meet and assist at the train or airport terminal. After that, we take you to your hotel for lunch. We'll transport you to the State Tribal Museum after a quick lunch (closed on Mondays). The Museum is made up of a collection of varied items utilised by the many tribes that can be found throughout Odisha.

Day 2 Bhubaneswar to Pusangia (Approx. 07 hours drive)

We will travel to the Phulbani district today. The Kondhs, one of Odisha's largest tribal groups, inhabit this area. You will encounter Maliah Kondhs, also known as the Tattoo faced Kondhs, who are identifiable by their facial tattoos that resemble whiskers. We'll go on a hike to some picturesque villages with stunning scenery and friendly locals. Several pillars that were formerly utilised for human sacrifice but are no longer, will be encountered by us.

Day 3 Pusangia to Rayagada (Approx. 04 hours drive)

Post breakfast, we will walk to see the Kondhs' morning routine and how they spend their time in the fields. We will learn about the principles of organic farming in these regions. We'll drive to Rayagada later. Spend the evening exploring Rayagada's bustling bazaar.

Day 4 Rayagada – Chatikona Weekly Market – Jeypore (Approx. 06 hours drive)

We will travel to Chatikona today to visit the vibrant weekly market. The Dongoriya and Desia Kondhs, who live on the Niyamgiri Hills, frequent this market. Every Wednesday, they make the roughly 15 km walk to this market to sell their wares. They purchase supplies for the coming week using the money they receive. The Dongoriyas cultivate a variety of fruits and vegetables on the hilltop since they are professional horticulturists. Later, we'll drive to Jeypore, stopping along the route to visit the farming communities of the Kuvi Kondhs and Mali tribes.

Day 5 Jeypore – Onukudelli – Jeypore (Approx. 03 hours drive)

After breakfast, we will travel 75 kilometres to Onukudelli, one of the Bondas and Gadabbas most vibrant weekly markets. With a current population of about 10,000, the Bondas are one of Southern Odisha's most fascinating and attractive tribes. They have carefully maintained their culture and traditions over the years. Bonda women work harder than Bonda men; they gather fruits and regional alcoholic beverages to sell at this market. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch later, close to a lovely waterfall. Visit Limcaguda later to learn about the methods used to create organic ceramics. 
 
Return to Jeypore for overnight stay.
 

Day 6 Jeypore – Kunduli – Jeypore (Approx. 03 hours drive)

Today, we'll travel 60 kilometres to the weekly Kunduli market in the vicinity of Similiguda. The Paroja Tribes usually go to this market, which is one of the bigger weekly marketplaces. Among the tribes, the Parojas are thought to have the largest population. They may be recognised by their clan emblems. Sana Parojas and Bada Parojas are the next categories. We'll go to this large market where you can find Parojas selling produce, livestock, and other goods.

Day 7 Jeypore – Balliguda – Bhubaneswar (Approx. 06 hours drive)

You will be driven to the region of Balliguda after breakfast. You will go through lusciously verdant country lanes. You may see a variety of smaller hills covered in lush Sal trees and stop by some Oriya settlements along the way. You will undoubtedly be amazed by the surroundings and the vista! A picnic lunch will make your journey much more enjoyable, than drop to Bhubaneswar.

Day 8 Bhubaneswar – Imphal (Approx. 06 hours flight)

This morning after breakfast, board a flight to Imphal. Arrive at Imphal Airport/joining point, and transfer to your pre booked hotel. After checking in, relax. Later, we will enjoy exploring local markets including Ema Keithel- the marketplace run only by women. You will be able to interact with the ladies and know about their culture and pick some souvenirs and other local specialities. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 9 Imphal – Kohima (Approx. 05 hours drive)

After early breakfast, head out to Kohima. On arrival, check into your hotel and proceed to visit Naga Heritage village to learn about the rich tradition and culture of Nagas. Relish a traditional meal. 
 
Return back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
 

Day 10 Kohima – Jorhat (Approx. 06 hours)

We will drive to Jorhat after breakfast. Here you will be greeted with urban settings, rainforests and varied art forms displaying in the shops of the town. Relax in your room or head out to explore the town on foot. This town will act as our gateway to Arunachal Pradesh.

Day 11 Jorhat – Namphake village – Pasighat (Approx. 08 hours)

Get driven to Dibrugarh post breakfast via Namphake Village. The Phakial community of Assam established this village in 1850 AD. Currently 600 members of this community live here. Enjoy the brief interaction to understand their lifestyle. It will be a long but scenic drive further. On arrival in Pasighat, retire in your comfortable rooms.

Day 12 Pasighat – Mebo Village – Pasighat

Get ready for an eventful day with early breakfast. Enjoy the excursion to Mebo village. Mebo village is inhabited by Aadi Padam Tribe and its subtribes called Padam, Passi and Minyong.

Day 13 Pasighat – Ziro (Approx. 06 hours drive)

This morning after breakfast, get driven to Ziro which is home to the Apatani tribe. On arrival, check in and unwind.

Day 14 Ziro – Majuli (Approx. 05 hours drive & 30 minutes ferry ride)

After breakfast, drive to the largest village inhabited by Apatani Tribe- Hong Village. Notice their distinct tattoos on foreheads and nose piercings. Later, proceed to the nearest ferry point to reach Majuli island. Majuli is a freshwater island in the Brahmaputra River that is lush green, environmentally friendly, and devoid of pollution. The largest river island in the world, Majuli, draws visitors from all over the globe. Majuli, one of India's most bizarre locations, is a leading candidate for inclusion in the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. Majuli is primarily populated by Tribals, and one of the main factors in why people adore this place so much is because of its distinctive and fascinating culture.

Day 15 Majuli – Jorhat – Mon (Approx. 30 minutes ferry ride & 06 hours drive)

This morning, wake up early for a wonderful nature walk. After breakfast take a ferry and then drive to Mon via Jorhat. Mon, the home of the Konyak Nagas, offers visitors a singular and utterly enthralling view of tattooed faces donning feathered loincloths.
 
On arrival, check into the hotel and enjoy the leisure time.

Day 16 Mon

Enjoy breakfast before we head out to explore this beautiful village and the surroundings. Probably the most fascinating feature of this town is its inhabitants and their colourful and distinctive culture and clothing. There are many charming villages close by that give you a better understanding of Naga life. Interact with locals as you visit. Among the well-known tourist destinations, we shall cover here are Veda Peak and Naganimora.

Day 17 Mon – Jorhat (Approx. 05 hours drive)

After breakfast, get driven to Jorhat. The tea capital of India is another name for this city. Jorhat, a city in the Assam state, is renowned for its culture, mosques, tombs, gardens, and, most significantly, its tea plantations. Take out time to explore one or more of these lush green tea estates during your free time post arrival.

Day 18 Jorhat – Delhi (By Flight)

This morning you will be dropped off at the airport after breakfast for your onward journey to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi, check in your hotel and enjoy the free time as you may please.

Day 19 Departure

Pack your bags for the journey back to home before breakfast, early morning, you will be dropped off at the airport as per your scheduled flight. Tour ends with lovely memories.
