Eight Cannons of the Ahom Period

About Eight Cannons of the Ahom Period

Eight cannons of the Ahom Period are now placed at the Talatal Ghar in Sivasagar, Assam, a house that’s connected by underground tunnels and are of different sizes, each serving a specific purpose, the largest being 5.70 meters long with a circumference of 3 meters. Some of them have inscriptions with the date in Saka between 1590-1615. It is said that the Ahoms ruled Assam valiantly across the course of the Bhramaputra valley for 6 centuries. The Ahoms were a clan of people who were credited with great feats of bravery.
