Aritar is another tourist destination and a prominent hill station in the state of Sikkim located at the end of the Himalayan Range in the East Sikkim district under Rongli Sub-Division. Locally, it is known as Lampokhari. This region is characterized by lush green forest, rivers and towering mountains. This place is steeped in history and natural beauty.   • The Aritar Gumpa, Aritar: The Aritar Gumpa is one of the major tourist attraction and a very famous Buddhist Monastery in Sikkim. It is a holy monastery that attracts many tourist from all over India. Aritar Gumpa is considered as one of the oldest Gumpas in Sikkim. Main reason for attractions are the traditional architecture, beautiful surroundings, carved and painted murals and other artefacts. It is a must visiting place while taking tour to Aritar Gumpa.
  • Lampokhari Lake, Aritar: Situated on the top of a hill at Atitar in East Sikkim there lies the Lampokhari Lake. It is the mesmerising boot-shaped lake. It is considered to be the oldest lake in Aritar. This lake served to quench thirst of the mules and merchants on their tiresome journey to Tibet. Now, it is a focal point for attracting tourists.
  • Mankhim Dara, Aritar: This is a temple and the most popular tourist attractions in the state. This temple belongs to one of Nepal’s oldest ethno linguistic groups, the Rai community. The Sakewa Puja is celebrated here every year that gathers It holds a great religious significance amongst tourists. As it is situated at the hill top, it gives a panoramic view of the valley and lake below.
