Balasore located at the northern part, it is believed to be the most fertile region in entire state of Odisha. This destination is bordered by the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand. Budhabalanga and Subarnarekha are the two blessed important rivers passes through this district before flowing to Bay of Bengal. Balasore is a major tourist attraction well known for its scenic beauty. It is also dotted with famous for historical monuments and numerous temples. Balasore is also known as Baleswar or Baleshwar. There is a legend behind the name of the city. The actual name of Balasore is ‘Baneswar’ which was once capital of Demon King Baneswar. The name of this city has been derived from the named of this Demon King. It is a district created in October 1828. This region is believed to be the part of Kalinga War, one of the world bloodiest battles ever fought in Indian subcontinent. Later, it became a territory of Toshal or Utka. Balasore is best known for the Chandipur beach. In present day, it has become India's Most Advanced Missile Testing Site as a large number of missiles have been launched from the ITR at Dr Abdul Kalam Island (formerly known as Wheeler Island). For this reason, Balasore is also referred as ‘The Missile City of Odisha’.

  • Panchalingeswar, Balasore: Panchalingeswar Temple is a popular Hindu temple near Chandipur. It named after the five Shivalinga that are enshrined inside by Sita (wife of Lord Rama) during their exile. The linga is inside the water stream and one has to lie flat on the rock parallel to the stream to touch and worship the lingas. This temple is temple is on top of a hillock near the Nilagiri hill.
  • Chandipur Beach, Balasore: It is one of the most popular beach in the state of Odisha. It is an awesome place for beach lovers. It is a relaxing coastal town for every tourist. Chandipur beach is a beach where the sea disappears suddenly in front of your eyes, that happens twice in a day. It is truly a captivating and fascinating beach that gives you a complete retreat. Tourist visiting this place can witness the Mangrove Horseshoe crab.
  • Khirachora Gopinath Temple, Balasore: Khirachora Gopinath Temple is a pilgrimage place and one of the most beautiful temple in Balasore. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna or Lord Gopinath. Maximum devotees are mostly Hindus where you can find huge number of devotees visiting this temple.
