Bangalore or Bengaluru as it is known as one of the twelve metropolitan cities of India and capital of Karnataka. With the population of 8.2 million people Bengaluru is third most populous city in India. Officially Bengaluru or Bendakaluru as it was known in older times was established by Kempe Gowda I who was a feudal lord in Vijayanagara Empire in 1537, though the region surrounding Bengaluru predates this time dating as back as 4000 BCE. After the fall of Vijayanagar Empire, Bengaluru was ruled by series of dynasties from Marathas to Wadiyar dynasty to Tipu Sultan later falling in the hands of Britishers. Bengaluru is located on Deccan Plateau at an elevation of 900 meters and has tropical savanna climate thus resulting in a moderate climate throughout the year with temperature warring from 19 to 30 degrees Celsius. Often referred as Silicon Valley of India Bengaluru is India’s leading IT and technology hub. Apart from Silicon Valley the city is also known as Garden City of India due to its gentle climate and many public parks. Bengaluru offer variety of tourist places in and around the city some of them being various parks namely Lal Bagh, Cubbon Park and JP Park, Historical monuments such as Bangalore Fort, Bangalore Palace, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace and Mayo Hall. The city also offers variety of museums and art galleries namely Kempegowda Museum, Gandhi Bhavan, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and NIMHANS Brain Museum to name a few. Since Bengaluru is surrounded with greenery of the Deccan there are many wildlife parks and natural hotspots such as Bannerghatta National Park, Butterfly Park and ecological hotspot for birds at Hebbal Lake.

  • Bangalore Fort, Bangalore: Bangalore Fort is one of the major attractions of Bangalore. The fort was originally established as a mud fort in 1537 A D by Kempe Gowda 1st, a feudal lord of the Vijaynagar Empire and the founder of Bangalore. The Bangalore Fort was replaced the mud fort with a stone fort in 1761 by Haider Ali. Later it served as the stronghold of Tipu Sultan until it fell to the British during the third Mysore War in 1791. The fort is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India
  • Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Bangalore: Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace is another must see tourist attraction of Bangalore city. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Indo-Islamic architecture.  It was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Tipu Sultan. It was established in 1791, which is situated within the walls of the Bangalore Fort. The Summer Palace also houses a museum that contains artifacts relating to the Hyder-Tipu regime.
  • Bangalore Palace, Bangalore: Built in 1862, Bangalore Palace is one of the most popular historical tourist attractions of the city. It is situated close to Mekhri Circle and Cantonment Railway station. The Palace was established to look like a smaller replica of the Windsor Castle in England. Now the palace is owned by the Mysore royal family.
  • Mayo Hall, Bangalore: Situated on the heart of the city, Mayo Hall is another popular tourist attraction of attraction of Bangalore. It was designed in memory of the Lord Mayo. It is renowned as one of the finest British architecture of the country. Kempegowda Museum is situated on the first floor of Mayo Hall, which was established in the memory of Yelahanka chieftain Kempegowda, who was the founder of the city of Bangalore. The museum houses his statue along with the picturesque forts, temples, reservoirs and inscriptions from his time.
  • Government Museum, Bangalore: Government Museum is another major attraction of the Bangalore city. It was founded in 1865, by the Mysore State with the guidance of Surgeon Edward Balfour who founded the museum in Madras. The Museum is housing the remarkable collection of archaeological and geological artifacts such as sculpture, coins, inscriptions and old jewelries. The government museum is containing the rare collection of Halmidi inscription, the earliest Kannada inscription ever found.  
  • Gandhi Bhavan, Bangalore: It is one of the major tourist attractions of the city, which was founded in 1965 at Kumara Park. The Gandhi Bhavan is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, which displays his life moments. It has the good collection of rare photo gallery, his letters, audio visuals and a library.
  • HAL Aerospace Museum, Bangalore:  It is another must see attraction of the city which displays the growth of the Aviation Industry of India and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited during the six decades. The Museum was built in 2001 at HAL Airport Road, which is spread over 4 acres. It is maintained by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. It exhibits the large collection of aircraft and helicopters, Aircraft engine models, Flight simulators, a mock Air Traffic Control Tower etc.
  • NIMHANS Brain Museum, Bangalore: NIMHANS Brain Museum is one of the popular tourist attractions of Bangalore city, which is situated at National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. It displays the human brain and its functions. It houses the wide collection of over 600 brain samples and is the result of over 30 years of research. Here one can understand how brain works and get an insight into the kind of diseases that can affect it.
  • Legends Motorcycle Museum, Bangalore: It is another interesting museum of Bangalore city, which is having the collection of more than 20 vintage motorcycles in working condition. These vintage motorcycles are dates back to 1924.
  • Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Bangalore: It is one of the five Planetariums named after Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium was established in 1989 by Bangalore City Corporation.
  • Lal Bagh, Bangalore: One of the most popular tourist attractions of Bangalore city, Lal Bagh is a botanical garden. The Garden is established in 1760 by the Hyder Ali, who was the Sultan and de facto ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore. It is spread over 240 acre, which houses over 1000 species of flora and a Glass House. The park is renowned for its annual flower show.
  • Cubbon Park, Bangalore: Situated in the heart of the Bangalore city, Cubbon Park is another popular attraction of this region. The Park was established by Major General Richard Sankey in 1884. It is spread over 300 acres and houses the more than 68 general and 96 species of trees and plants. Bangalore Aquarium is located on the entrance of the park, which is the second largest aquarium in India.
  • Hebbal Lake, Bangalore: Located at the distance of about 13kms from the city center of Bangalore, Hebbal Lake is known as the home to a large species of water birds such as spot-billed pelican, Eurasian spoonbill, Shoveller, pintail, Garganey, spot-billed duck etc.
