Barbil is a popular tourist destination that comes under the Kendujhar/Keonjhar district of Odisha. It is situated on the bank of Karo river. Barbil is a popular spot which have a unique combination of Mythology, History and Scenic beauty. Famous and blessed for the world largest deposit of iron ore and manganese ore. Most of the iron ore is also exported to China. Barbil is popular for industrial and business hub. The atmosphere is dusty due to mining activities. Barbil is also known as ‘mining capital’ of northern Odisha. One of the most popular tourist sight is the oldest rocks of the world which is approximately 38,000-million-year-old. The famous temple named Maa Tarini temple belongs to a historical era where thousands of devotees visit this temple every day from all over Odisha.   • Ghatgaon Maa Tarini Temple, Barbil: It is one of the most popular and religious temple in Barbil. This temple is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Maa Tarini. Devotees worshipped her as the queen of Forest. Patua Yatra and Ashadhi Parba are the most famous festivals of this place celebrated in the month of April.
  • Sana Ghagra, Barbil: The Sanaghagara Waterfall is one of the major tourist attraction places in Kendujhar district of Odisha. Apart from this, it is also the best place for picnic spot where thousands of visitors and tourists comes here to visit throughout the year. The perennial stream adds to the natural beauty of this forest tract and attracts large number of visitors.
  • Sitabinji, Barbil:  According to the mythology, this place is known as the birth place of Luv-Kush, son of Lord Rama and Sita. It is an important place for Hindu devotees. Thousands of people from all over India visit this place.
  • Kanjhari Dam, Barbil: Kanjhari Dam is a famous Water Resorvoir and a popular picnic spot where visitors can spend some quality time with their family members and also with loved ones.
  • Murga Mahadev Waterfalls, Barbil: The name of this waterfall is after the son ‘Kartikeya’ of Lord Shiva, whose another name was Murgan. The place has an enchanting beauty from the two waterfalls that fall from Thakurani Hills. The waterfalls have side trees that make the entire place mesmerizing. It is also a favourite picnic spot for local people of Barbil.
