Bathinda is one of the oldest cities in the state of Punjab. This city is named after the Bhati Rajput Kings, situated in the Southern part of Punjab State. Bathinda is also known as Tabar-e-Hind or Tabarhindh by the Invaders. Literally, it means the Gateway to India.  According to "Ainai-Barar Bans" Bathinda was built by Bhati Rao, son of Bal Band, who became ruler of Punjab in 336 Bikrami Sambat. It was also called Whatinda and Bitunda which finally become known as Bhatinda. It is the sixth largest city in Punjab. The nickname of this city is the ‘City of Lakes’, the artificial lakes in the city. Dotted with sand dunes, every tourist place in Bathinda has a unique story of its own and has important significance. This city has emerged as an important industrial hub because of oil refineries and fertilizer factories. It is also home for two cement plants namely Ambuja Cements and UltraTech Cement Limited. It also offers many other tourist attractions namely Damdama Sahib, Maiser Khana, Zoological Park, Qila Mubarak, Rose Garden that attracts a lot of tourist from all over India.

Main Attractions
  • Damdama Sahib, Bathinda: Damdama means the breathing or resting place. This gurudwara is in the village of Talwandi Sabo. It is a famous Gurudwara built at the site where Guru Gobind Singh prepared the full version of the Sikh Scriptures, called Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
  • Maiser Khana, Bathinda: It is a famous Hindu Temple in Bathinda. This temple is dedicated to goddesses Durga and Jwala Ji. It is believed that Goddess was pleased with the man’s devotion named ‘Kamal’ who failed to complete a hazardous pilgrimage to Shri Jawalji’s temple and therefore paid a lifelong penance to Goddess Durga and granted him divine visions twice in one year.
  • Zoological Park, Bathinda: It is an interesting place visited by people of all age groups. It is an ideal picnic spot in Bathinda. It fascinates thousands of tourists coming here to visit Bathinda.
  • Qila Mubarak, Bathinda: Qila Mubarak is a historical monument that is in the heart of the city Bathinda. It is the oldest surviving fort in India from 90-110 AD. Raja Dab, along with emperor Kanishka, is believed to have built the fort. It is made up of an alloy of silver, gold, copper and iron.
  • Rose Garden, Bathinda: People who are Rose lovers can visit this place. Best time to visit this place is during the seasonal time. It is a well-maintained Garden with different species of Roses.
  • Bathinda Lake, Bathinda: It is another tourist place in Bathinda. Bathinda Lake is often skipped on the visit, owing to the plethora of other prime attractions of Bathinda. One can enjoy the boat ride throughout the day.
