Bhadrak is emerging as an upcoming tourism destination bordered by Balasore, Jajpur and Keonjhar districts which are the popular tourist places to visit in Odisha. The name Bhadrak has been derived from the Goddess ‘Bhadrakali’, whose temple stands on the bank of the Salandi River. It is noted as a legendary land dating from the age of the Puranas. During the British time, Gandhiji came here in 1920 for a visit and was impressed with the nationalistic fervour and fighting spirit of the people. It is the birth place of many freedom fighters and poets. Because of their heroic acts, their names should be written in Golden words. Some of the heroes are - Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, Moulabi Mohammad Hannif, Kanta Kabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, Shri Banchanidhi Mohanty, Mr. Nilamani Routray and so on. As a tourist place, Bhadrak has some tourist attraction that attracts people from all over India. It is one of the best place for history seekers. This destination is also famous for pilgrimage tour. Bhadrak is also known as ‘An Abode of Temples’. There are many old temples in Bhadrak, one of which is a 150 years old temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva that welcome tourist from far away.

  • Sri Radha Madanmohan Temple, Bhadrak: Sri Radha Madanmohan Temple is one of the popular tourist attraction in Bhadrak. This is a widely-visited temple by thousands of devotees. The exclusivity of this temple is that there are more than five hundred old clothes of Sri Chaitanya is present here.
  • Sri Biranchinarayan Temple, Bhadrak: Sri Biranchinarayan Temple is located at Palia village in south of Bhadrak located at 17kms from Bhadrak. The temple is dedicated to Lord Brahma which was built during the18th century. The temple has a great significance in the cultural past of the district.
