Bharatpur is a renowned city and the eastern gateway to Rajasthan situated 55km from Agra city. The name of Bharatpur was named after Bharat, who was the second brother of Lord Rama depicted from one of popular the Hindu Epic, ‘The Ramayana’. It is also known as “Lohagarh” and the “Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan”. Bharatpur is well-known for the Keoladeo National Park, which is a UNESCO's World Heritage Site. Bharatpur was founded by Raja Suraj Mal in 1733. This region was carved out from Mewat. It was the only kingdom that was ruled by non-Rajput dynasty in Rajasthan. During his reign, he built numerous forts and palaces across the kingdom. Tourist comes here not only to visit the historical places and imperial past but to witness the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, known for Siberian Cranes that migrate here during the winter months. Formerly, this park was used by the royal family as hunting ground. Tourist planning to explore this place can see some of the rarest 230 different species of birds. Locally, this park is called as Ghana National Wildlife Sanctuary which is considered an endangered bird today.   • Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Bharatpur: Keoladeo Ghana National Park is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. It was designated as a World Heritage Site under the world Heritage Convention in 1985 by UNESCO. It was declared as a bird Sanctuary in the year 1971 and National Park in 1981. The migratory birds that comes from far Siberia and Central Asia are the main attraction of this bird sanctuary.
  • Lohagarh Fort, Bharatpur: It is a historical landmark that ranks as one of the most beautiful Forts and Palaces in Rajasthan India. This fort is different from other forts in Rajasthan. Maharaja Suraj Mal built this Fort in the early 18th century who is also the founder of Bharatpur. During his time, various forts, palaces were erected.
  • Laxman Mandir, Bharatpur: This temple is believed to be 400 years old. It is a prominent shrine in the city of Bharatpur in Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to Lord Laxman, who was the brother of Lord Rama that is depicted in one of the most popular Hindu Epic, Ramayana.
  • Government Museum, Bharatpur: This museum is one of the most important museum in Bharatpur. It consists of very precious collection of archaeological wealth of the nearby place. It was converted to museum in the year 1944 AD, located in the heart of Lohargarh Fort.
