Bhavnagar is a city that falls under the Saurashtra region of the state Gujarat. It is located at the Southern tip of Peninsula Gujarat. It is the fifth largest city that was founded by Bhavsinhji Gohil in the year 1723. The city got the name after Bhavsinhji Gohil. Formerly it was a princely state known as Gohilwad; "Land of the Gohils" ruled over by the Maharaja of Bhavnagar. It is a significant place of importance and famous in trade business. As far in tourism is concerned, the city is very lively and attracts a lot of tourist from all over India. Many renowned thinkers, educationists, writers, artists etc. are mostly from Bhavnagar. There are many heritage places where one can experience the legacy of the Bhavnagar.  It is a place for major pilgrimage centre for Jainism.

  • Nilambagh Palace, Bhavnagar: Nilambagh Palace is one of the most tourists visiting Palace in Bhavnagar that is now converted to heritage hotel. It was built in the year 1859 AD was once home to the ruler Gohil dynasty of Bhavnagar.  It is a magnificent building that combines Indian architecture with a modern outlook.
  • The Barton Library, Bhavnagar: The Barton library is a beautiful building of which is of two storeyed.  It is one of the oldest libraries in the state of Gujarat. There is also a museum inside. This museum has a fine collection of betel nut cutters, old weapons, musical instruments, ancient coins, and various other arts objects that represents the culture of Gujarat as a whole. 
  • Mangalsinhji Mahal Palace, Bhavnagar: It is a magnificent landmark in the city of Bhavnagar that depicts the traditional Kathiawari architectural principles of the Mangalsinhji Mahal Palace. It considers as a historical property existing in the city of Bhavnagar. It is a brilliant tourist attraction of entire Gujarat. 
  • Takhteshwar Temple, Bhavnagar: Takhteshwar Temple is an ancient historical temple located on a small hill from where one can see the great views of Bhavnagar city. The temple finished its construction in 1893 AD and was named after Maharaja Takhatsihnji who was the ruler of Bhavnagar.  This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is considered to be the destroyer and creator in the Hindu 'Holy Trinity'.
  • Gaurishankar Lake, Bhavnagar: Gaurishankar Lake is one of the most famous tourist spot in Bhavnagar. This lake is also known as Bor Talav. It was built in the year 1872 under the guidance of Sri Gaurishankar Oza. The viewpoint of the lake is most spectacular spot for the bird watchers. Tourist must not miss the opportunity to view some species like – geese, ducks, cranes etc. 
  • Bhav Vilas Palace, Bhavnagar: Bhav Vilas Palace represents the clubhouse of the royal family which faces the Gaurishankar Lake. It was once a princely state of Bhavnagar. It is famous for its wildlife collection and lake-side views that attracts maximum tourist. 
  • Gangajaha, Bhavnagar: Gangajaha is also known as Ganga Deri. It was built in the year 1893 AD by Bhavnagar Maharaja Takhtsinghji in the memory of his wife Maharani Majirajba and designed by Sir John Griffiths. It is Hindu temple that has a great historical importance. It is one of the popular tourist attractions in Bhavnagar.
 
  • Victoria Park, Bhavnagar: Victoria Park is the only one jungle in Asia best for walking, jogging and for exercises in early morning. It is one of the oldest man-made forests in India. The park was set up in 1888 by Maharaja Takhtasinhji. There is a beautiful garden that is well-maintained where you can watch many migratory birds.
