Located in the census town of North Goa, Candolim is one of the most famous beaches of Goa, that attracts tourist from not only India but worldwide.  Candolim was once a small village during Portuguese rule and was an important focal point for Portuguese rule. It is one of the largest beaches in the state and is stretched over 4.5 km from Aguada Fort to Calangute. Whilst it attracts many tourists it is a laid back beach when compared to bustling Calangute beach. Through the stretch of the beach along the Candolim-Calangute Road, there is a huge market which stretches for about 4.5 km featuring restaurants and shops.

Main Attractions
  • Reis Magos Fort, Candolim Beach: This fort is situated at the distance of 6 kms from Candolim Beach and was built by Portuguese by 1551. The fort was established to protect the location where Mandovi River becomes narrow and permits entry of seafaring vessels into the river.
  • Candolim Beach: It lies 15 kms from Panaji. This beach is very peaceful and calm.
  • Aguada Fort: This fort was built by Portuguese in 1612 for defence against Maratha and Dutch invaders. Along with the Fort the lighthouse, Church and a Jail That Become now tourist attractions.
  • Viceroy’s Arch: It is situated at 20 km from Candolim Beach. This is made of Laterite and green granite was constructly made Portuguese after arrival in Goa.
  • Chapel of St. Lawrence: It is located at 5 km from Candolim Beach along the Fort Aguada Road. This church is dedicated to St. Lawrence, a frequenter saint of sailors. Palacio Ajuda, a massive structure built by Jimmy Gazdar which is situated at the chapel gate. It is the most important chapel
