Cherrapunji is also called as Cherrapunjee most renowned as the wettest place all over the world. As it is the wettest place, it held the record for highest rainfall in the past. Sohra, which was pronounced as ‘Churra’ by the British was the historic name of Cherrapunji that eventually renamed as the current name. commonly used by the local people. Cherrapunji is popularly known as ‘Land of Oranges’. The land is naturally pristine and it becomes more beautiful during the monsoon season. It is one of the best ever destination where tourist can enjoy rain throughout the year. In 1858, Iron was the main export entity from Khasi Hills. There is a stunning and majestic waterfall named Nohkalikai Falls which is also known as ‘Seven Sister Falls’ is supposed to be the fourth highest waterfall in the world. Cherrapunji is such a tourist destination experienced by the judicious tourist coming from all over the world. There are major tourist places in Cherrapunji such as - Nohkalikai Falls, Eco Park, Arwah Cave, Krem Mawmluh Cave, Thangkharang Park etc. This is a lovely town cloud passing you on the top of a mountain that gives you an amazing feel. 

Main Attractions
  • Nohkalikai Falls, Cherrapunji: Nohkalikai Falls is a major tourist destination in Cherrapunji. There is an interesting legend behind this fall. The name of the falls was after a woman named Ka Likai, who jump from the height of 1115 feet and gave her life. ‘Noh’ means jump and Ka Likai is the name of the woman. It is one of the tallest and highest waterfall in India.
  • Eco Park, Cherrapunji: It is the best tourist place to enjoy the ‘Green Canyons’ of Sohra. To get near the edge of the canyon, one have to cross a bridge inside the park. It has become one of the most popular tourist attractions that is maintained and designed under the Government of Meghalaya. From this park, tourist can admire the amazing views of the plains of Bangladesh as well.  
  • Nohsngithiang Falls, Cherrapunji: Nohsngithiang Falls is also referred to as the Seven Sisters Falls due to water falling down from seven different segments. It offers a wonderful view to the tourist coming from all over India. This waterfall mostly depends on heavy rainfalls and only during the rainfalls, this waterfall become lively.
  • Arwah Cave, Cherrapunji: Tourist visiting this place can have an excellent caving experience. It’s a magnificent place located in this small town of Sohra. The cave is in the high altitude which is dark and thrilling. One should mustered some courage to enter this cave. It is about 20 to 30 mins walk where one can also explore some fish fossil formation on the rocks. It is one of the most amazing adventurous caves in the state of Meghalaya.
  • Krem Mawmluh Cave, Cherrapunji: Adventure lovers are most welcome to this beautiful and unspoiled cave. Krem Lymput is rich with its calcite formations. It is also known as Krem Mawkhyrdop, representing one of the important components of biodiversity. It was the first cave to be explored by a British.
  • Thangkharang Park, Cherrapunji: Thangkharang Park is a must visit place to enjoy the most greenery, located 12km away from the main city of Cherrapunji. This park lies the Khoh Ramrah rock, which is popularly known as the Shiva Rock. This park also offers a view of Bangladesh.  
  • Double Decker Living Root Bridge, Cherrapunji: It is one of the most nature made tourist attraction in Cherrapunji. It is one of the most nature blessed bridge built by age old living root and got its name as Double Decker Living Root Bridge. One of the best trip for trekkers and adventure lovers. Visiting such tourist spot live some good patches which are very hard to forget.
