Chikhaldara, a mythological land is a popular hill station in Amravati district of Maharashtra. The deep misty valleys of Chikhaldara has a new shade in every fold unwrapped. Chikhaldara is also called as Chikaldara. This is the place where Bheema killed villainous Keechaka, featured in the epic of the Mahabharata. From this, the place got the name after Keechakadara. Chikaldara was discovered by Captain Robinson of the Hyderabad Regiment in 1823. This tourist destination is mostly preferred by travellers from Nagpur, Mumbai. Be it family, kids or couples, Chikhaldara is mostly preferred by every traveler. Replete with captivating precipices and highpoints offering a panoramic view of the serene surroundings. The scenic beauty of this misty mountains could be observed from Hurricane Point, Prospect Point, and Devi Point. Apart from this tourist can also experience the exciting wildlife, breathtaking waterfalls and a placid lake, the beauty of Chikhaldara. There are several tourist attraction places such as Panchbol Point, Bhimkund-Kichakdara that makes a perfect place to visit. It is an excellent place to repose in summer.

Main Attractions
  • Bhimkund-Kichakdara, Chikhaldara: It is one of the most attractive tourist destination in Chikhaldara. It offers fascinating view of the waterfall and cascades during rainy season. Apart from this it is also referred as a pilgrimage place. 
  • Gavilgad Fort, Chikhaldara: Gawaligad Fort is near Chikhaldara hill station in Amravati district of Maharashtra. It is believed to carve during the period of the Nizams, when Elichpur was their capital. Idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Shankar are also seen in the fort where Hindi, Urdu and Arabic scripts comprise the carvings on the walls of the fort. The fort is at present under the Melghat Tiger Project.
  • Gugamal National Park, Chikhaldara: The Gugumal National Park is one of the most well-known national parks in the state of Maharashtra. Maharashtra is home to a wide variety of rare animals and birds, including the tiger, crocodile, bison, gawa, neelgai, wild deer, migratory birds and so on. This National Park was built in 1974.
  • Panchbol Point, Chikhaldara: Panchbol Point is one of the most famous and important tourist place in Chikhaldara where one can experience the magic of nature here that lies close to the Bir Lake. It is named as the Five Echo Point or Panchbol Point because if you shout here, the sound is reflected back and heard five times.
  • The Melghat Tiger, Chikhaldara: The Melghat was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1973-74 under the Project Tiger. It was notified as the first among the nine Tiger Reserves, located in the Amaravati district of Maharastra. Tourist can find many different kinds of wildlife, both flora and fauna, are found here. The Reserve is a catchment area for five major rivers: the Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga and Dolar, all of which are tributaries of the river Tapti.

  • By Railway – Badnera and Akola Railway Stations are the two nearest railway station to reach Chikhaldara. It is located 80 km away from Chikhaldara.  It is well-connected with other major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur.
  • By Road – Chikhaldara is well linked by State transport buses from all parts of Maharashtra.
