Cuttack is the second largest city in entire eastern Indian states, centered between the Kathajodi River and the Mahanadi River. This vigorous city is also known as the ‘Millennium City’ and due to the famous silver filigree works, it is called as ‘Silver City’ of India. Formerly, it was the capital city of Odisha and a prominent commercial nerve center of Odisha.  It is an ancient city of Odisha that have witnessed many stories of rise and fall of several empires and dynasties. The name of this city has been derived from Sanskrit word ‘Kataka’ which means military camp or the fort of capital. Maharaja Markata Keshari established in the 10th century. Cuttack is a seat of the Government protected by the army. In the medieval age, the city was known as Abhinaba Baranasi Kataka. It is the birthplace of Sri Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who is a world-famous saint. Today, Cuttack is a home to several cultural programmes that gives more opportunities to display the culture and tradition of Cuttack region. Cuttack offers many tourist attraction places such as Barabarti Fort, Kataka Chandi Temple, Odisha Maritime Museum, and so on and become the favored tourist destination of many a tourist.

  • Barabarti Fort, Cuttack: Barabarti Fort is one of the popular historical monument located in Cuttack, Odisha. It is a major tourist destination built during the Ganga Dynasty in 14th Century. This is a nine-storied palace that reminds the past memories of it. The main attraction of this Fort is Moat, Gates, Nine Storey. This fort is situated 8km from the city located on the western side of the city near the bank of Mahanadi River.
  • Kataka Chandi Temple, Cuttack: The Katak Chandi Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Chandi known as the living Goddess. The goddess popularly called as Maa Katak Chandi. It is an ancient temple in the city of Cuttack. There is a great legend behind this old temple. It is a spiritual and sacred place for all devotees. Daily aarti is performed here by the priests.
  • Odisha Maritime Museum, Cuttack: It is a famous museum that was inaugurated by the Chief Minister on 01st April 2013. Visitors may find this place interesting as one can come to know about maritime historical records and traditions. The museum has ancient artefacts which reveal the historical developments in maritime. One can also get to see exquisite exhibits which include sculptures, pottery, and other instruments.
