Dimapur is another popular tourist destination zone in the state of Nagaland. It is an important city and commercial hub of Nagaland being the gateway of Nagaland. This city is one of the fastest developing cities entire North-East. Dimapur is often called as the ‘Brick City’ by European scholars and by the Ahom. Nagaland excellency has always stood apart from all other states in India. Dimapur was inaugurated in 1997 and become the eighth district of Nagaland. In the ancient time, Dimapur was the capital of Dimasa Kachari Rulers. the name Dimapur has been derived from ‘Dimasa’ (Kasari Dialect), ‘DIMA’ means great river and ‘pur’ means city. Literally, it means ‘City of Great River’. Nagaland is also renowned in the world of tattoos. “MO Naga” is a Naga tattoo culture researcher and only “Tattoo Masters flash collection”. As body art was very prevalent among the warlike tribes of the northeast it briefs the “Reviving Naga Tattoo tradition” inspiring the lifestyle of Naga Tribe. Many more national and international media took interest in promotion of Naga art culture. It is one of the great place to explore tribal tourism. Apart from this there are few major tourist destinations such as - Kachari ruins, the triple falls, Shiva temple and other local sightseeing that attracts many tourists from all over India as well as from abroad.

  • Kachari Ruins, Dimapur: Kachari Ruins is one of the famous tourist destination and famous for its monoliths. Tourist visiting Dimapur must visit this place to know the historical truth of Dimapur. It was the capital of ancient Kachari Dynasty and the relics of the great rulers can still be found here. Stones and bricks are scattered which are the remains of temples and embankments. Great place for history lovers.
  • Diezephe Craft Village, Dimapur: Diezephe Craft Village is an artistic village. It is a handicrafts and handloom village. Tourist can find Tenyimei community who are known for their excellent craftsmanship popular for its deft woodcarving, bamboo work and so on.   • The Triple Falls, Dimapur: It is one of the most mesmerizing waterfalls in Dimapur. As the name suggest, there are three segment that falls down from a height of 280 ft. giving a stunning view of the waterfall to the tourist.   • Shiva Temple, Dimpur: This temple of Lord Shiva was built by villagers in 1961. Before it was built as a temple, one of the villager saw a dream of that stone as Shiva Linga and started worshipping the stone. Slowly, it became a place of Hindu worshipping place that was dedicated to the Lord Shiva.
  • Nagaland Science Centre, Dimapur: It is another important place for every visitor. It is the best method of informal science education. Nagaland Science Centre Dimapur is under the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Nagaland.
