Firozpur is a popular city which is also known as Ferozepur, situated on the bank of the Sutlej River in the state of Punjab. It is one of the twenty-two districts of Punjab. After the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, Firozpur is called as ‘Shaheedon ki dharti’ or ‘the land of martyrs’. It is widely famous as the “Land of Soldiers”. This city was founded by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq during Tughlaq Dynasty. It is said that the town was named after a Rajput chief of Bhatti clan called Feroze Khan of 16th century. Firozpur is an ancient city as it holds a historic place in Indian History. Now it is an important center for administration and transportation. There are many remarkable places in Firozpur famous for historical memorial. Thousands of people come here to visit the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial. Visiting this city is incomplete without a mention of its rich heritage.

  • Jain Swetambar Temple, Firozpur: It is a Jain temple and a religious place for Jainism. This ancient temple was built in 1890 AD. Main attractions of this temple are the wall painting that depicts the history and culture of Jain religion. The architecture of this very beautiful and attracts a lot of visitor and devotees every year from all over India.
  • Gurudwara Zamini Sahib, Firozpur: This Gurudwara is regarded as one of the most sacred shrines in Firozpur. It is located at Bajidpur. It is another glorious Gurudwara situated at 8km from Firozpur. This gurudwara has some mythological story that is related to Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
  • Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial, Firozpur: This place is famous for an irrepressible revolutionary spirit of three National Martyrs namely S Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. People can visit this place and feel proud of being India. It is one of the major sightseeing in Firozpur.
  • Barki Memorial, Firozpur: Barki Memorial was constructed in 1969 in the memory of the soldiers of the 7 Infantry Division who made the Supreme sacrifice on the battle field in 1965. This town is situated at 25km from Lahore. On September 11, 1969, Lt. Gen. Harbakhsh laid the foundation stone of this memorial.
  • Indo- Pak Border, Firozpur:  It is also known as Indo-Pak Border of Hussainiwala. Firozpur has been serving as a venue of Retreat Ceremony every day at 6 p.m. in the evening since the year 1970. The border become lively with the clattering and thunderclap of Indian BSF Jawans.
