Firozpur is a popular city which is also known as Ferozepur, situated on the bank of the Sutlej River in the state of Punjab. It is one of the twenty-two districts of Punjab. After the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, Firozpur is called as ‘Shaheedon ki dharti’ or ‘the land of martyrs’. It is widely famous as the “Land of Soldiers”. This city was founded by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq during Tughlaq Dynasty. It is said that the town was named after a Rajput chief of Bhatti clan called Feroze Khan of 16th century. Firozpur is an ancient city as it holds a historic place in Indian History. Now it is an important center for administration and transportation.
