Giridih is a district located in the state of Jharkhand. Once part of Hazaribagh Giridih became an independent district in 1972. Giridih is in Chota Nagpur Plateau and is known for rich deposits of Mica and Coal. The region is surrounded by Parasnath Hills which are the highest peak in the state of Jharkhand. Giridih has dry climate and is extremely hot during summers while pleasant during winters. Giridih has many beautiful tourist spots some of them are Jharkhand Dham a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Parasnath Hills which are the highest peak in Jharkhand, Sri Sammeta Shikharji which are Jain temples located on Parasnath Hills and are considered to be one of the holiest sites in Jainism, Usri Falls, Khandoli Dam and Harihar Dam to name a few.

Main Attractions
  • Shikharji: It is one of the major Digambar Jain pilgrimage destination of India. Shikharji is located on the Parasnath Hills, which is the highest mountain peak in Jharkhand. It is located at an elevation of about 4480 feet above sea level. It is said to be that twenty of the twenty-four Tirthankaras attained salvation here. A number of Jain Temples are located on Parasnath Hills, among them some are believed to be around 2000 years old.These shrines are dedicated to each of the 20 Teerthankars.  
  • Usri Falls: Situated at the distance around 13 km from Giridih, Usri Falls is one of the most beautiful tourist attraction of this region. This amazing Waterfalls is amidst in dense forest, which falls from a height of about 40 ft. River Usri (a tributary of the Barakar River) flows down a steep gorge, which finally divides into three fast flowing streams.
  • Devari Temple: Located in the Devari Village, Devari Temple is one of the most prominent Hindu temple of this region.  This 11th century temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga.
  • Dukhiya Mahadev Temple: Located at the distance of about 5 km from Giridih headquarters, Dukhiya Mahadev Temple.  It is one of the most popular temple of this region, which is situated the bank of Usri river. It is renowned for its splendid architecture and sculptures.  The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva.
  • Sri Kabir Gyan Mandir:  Sri Kabir Gyan Mandir is another major attraction of the town which is located at the distance of about 2 km from Giridih headquarters. It was established as a motivational institution in 1985, which was headed by Sadguru Maa Gyan. It also has a temple of Guru Govind Dham, which having the beautiful idol of Sant Kabir and Lord Vishnu.
  • Khandoli Dam: Khandoli Dam is another major tourist attraction of this region which is situated at the distance of about 10 km from Giridih. It is a beautiful water reservoir and a dam. This place offers the various water based adventure sports activities. It is also popular spot for bird watching. A watch tower and a hillock (600 ft high) is located here which gives the spectacular view of the village. There are various other tourist activities are also available here such as boating, Rock-climbing, Parasailing and Kayaking etc.
