Goalpara is considered one of the top tourist spots in Assam, because its stunning landscape, picturesque hill towns and all around beauty and is a hidden gem of the state. Goalpara not only gives you a let-out from the regular monotony of life with its natural wilderness, but it is also a popular pilgrimage place owing to its umpteen number of temples and rich culture. Stupas and monuments are the key highlights here. The place also offers myriad trekking, rock climbing and other adventure activities. The city is between the southern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River and the foothills of  the Himalayas coming from the Lhasa, China. “One Horn Rhino” is the proud of Assam and also in India. 

Main Attractions
  • Surya Pahar: Located about 12 km southeast from Goalpara, Surya Pahar is one of the most significant heritage sites of the ancient remains in Assam. Surya Pahar translates to 'Hill Of The Sun' in English. 
  • Manas National Park: This park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is nestled in the foot hills of the Himalayas and is home to a number of animal species including the lispid hares, pygmy dogs, etc.There is a tiger reserve in the sanctuary. 
  • Tukeswari: Around 15km from Goalpara on Highway 37 is the popular religious spot of Tukeswari. According to legends, a portion of Goddess Sati fell at this site. The Tukeswari temple is situated atop the Tukeswari Hill where there is also a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
  • Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar district has three major tourist attractions namely, The Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary, Hanuman Temple and Kali Temple. Spread over an area of over 45sq km, it has the distinction of being one of the two areas inhabited by the Golden Langurs. Wildlife enthusiasts from all over the globe visit Kokrajhar to have a glimpse of this beautiful creature. It is also famous for trekking, birdwatching, and wildlife photography.
  • Nandeswar Devalaya: One of the most ancient shrines of the region, it stands atop the Nandeswar hill alongside river Dudhnoi. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiv and comes in major limelight during the festivals of Shivratri, Dol Jatra and Durga Pooja when numerous devotees come here and celebrate.

By Road – You can be easily availed buses, cars, taxis in Goalpara which are well-connected by road to Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram and other seven sisters states.
