Hazaribagh is a city located in the state of Jharkhand. The name Hazaribagh is derived from Hindi meaning Thousand Gardens, which finds its origin in Mango Plantation during 18th Century CE. Located on Hazaribagh Plateau which is part of the larger Chota Nagpur Plateau the history of the region dates back to 14th Century CE. During British rule Hazaribagh was used as a cantonment from 1790-1874 before an outbreak of Typhoid fever resulted in removal of troops from the area. Hazaribagh is also one of the largest coal producers in India being second in Jharkhand. The city is most famous for Hazaribagh National Park, which is located 19 kms from the main city and is known for its scenic beauty. The park is home to various species of flora and fauna some of the prominent being tigers, panthers, sambhars, spotted deer, bison and a number of mammalian faunas. Some other area of interest in Hazaribagh are Canary Hill, Panchmandir, Konar Dam, Urban Haat etc.

  • Hazaribagh Lake: Hazaribagh Lake is one of the most popular tourist attraction of the Hazaribagh. The lake is situated in the heart of the town. It is one of the most popular picnic spot, which is renowned for its beautiful sunrise and sunset.
  • Hazaribagh National Park: Located on the distance of about 19kms from Hazaribagh town, Hazaribagh National Park is one of the major tourist attraction of the town. It is spread over about 184 sq. km, which is surrounded by grassy meadows, deep riverbeds, small hils and dense tropical forests. It is the home of sambhar, wild bears, chital, kakar, nilgai, tigers, leopards and sloth bears.
  • Canary Hill: Canary Hill is another most amazing tourist attraction of Hazaribagh, which is located at the distance of about 5kms away from the heart of the town. This beautiful hill is in the middle of dense forest. It is consisting a park, three small lakes and an observation tower. It offers the splendid view of the town and especially during the sunrise and sunset.  
  • Narsigsthan Temple: Situated at about 6 km away from Hazaribagh, Narsigsthan Temple is in Khapriama Village. It is an important Hindu temple of this region, which is dedicated to Lord Narsingh, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. During Kartik Purnima as per Hindu calendar (October or November), a grand fair held here.
  • Panchmandir: It is another most prominent Hindu temple of Hazaribagh, which is situated in the heart of the town. The temple was built in 1880. Panchmandir is dedicated to five Gods of Hindu mythology.
  • Urban Haat: Situated at the distance of about 3 km from Hazaribagh, Urban Haat is one of the most happening place of this town. It displays and sells works created by the artisans of Jharkhand including handlooms, furniture, dress, leather commodities etc.
