Jhansi is one of the most important cities in the state of Uttar Pradesh.  The city has a rich history lies in the region of Bundelkhand on the banks of the Pahuj River. The history attracts tourists from all over the world. This city is a symbol of bravery, courage and self-respect. Jhansi serves as the gateway to Bundelkhand region. Jhansi was previously known as Balwant Nagar ruled by the Chandela kings. Jhansi is also known as the Joan of Arc of India. The name of this city has become synonymous to the Rani Lakshmi Bai, who played unforgettable role during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. It is famous for its beautiful forts and palaces that remind us of the bygone era. There are several tourist destination where tourists can get an excellent panoramic view of the city.   • Jhansi Fort, Jhansi: Jhansi Fort is one of the important tourist destination in Jhansi situated on a large hilltop called Bangira. This fort was commissioned by Raja Bir Singh Deo of Orchha. It had stored ample supplies of treasure and magazine. The good collections of sculpture and provides us a detailed information on the history of Bundelkhand.  
  • The Jhansi Museum, Jhansi: The Jhansi museum is another important tourist destination in Uttar Pradesh located in the Jhansi Fort. Tourist can get a glimpse into the life of Chandela dynasty from this Jhansi Museum where one can find weapons, statues, dresses and photographs. There are weapons used by Jhansi ki Rani and others during the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. There is also a picture gallery dedicated to the Gupta period. It attracts tourists from all over India.
  • Rani Mahal, Jhansi: Built by Raghu Nath-II of the Newalkar family (1769-96) it is a royal palace in the city of Jhansi. Later, this palace was formed one of the residences for Rani Lakshmibai. The major part of it was damaged by British bombardment during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The Palace has now been refurbished into a museum that has carefully treasured the remnants of history.
