Kaimur is a small district in Bihar which borders Uttar Pradesh. The headquarters of Kaimur is in Bhabhua. The rock paintings in the Lehda forest show that the history of Kaimur dates to 20,000 years ago. Historically it was first part of Magadh Empire from 6th century B.C. to 5th century A.D, followed by Gupta Empire and Empire of Harsha. Famous Chinese pilgrim Huen-Tang, visited Kaimur in 7th Century AD. Kaimur distinctly can be divided into two geographical regions Hilly area and Plain area. The Hilly area is formed what is known as Kaimur Plateau, which form the eastern portion of the Vindhya Range. A large part of Kaimur is covered with forest some of which forms the parts of Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, which is known for Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, Indian boars, sloth bears, sambar deers, chitals, four-horned antelope and nilgais.

Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary, Kaimur: It is located near Bhabhua and is the largest sanctuary of the state spread out 1342kms and has a few waterfalls and lakes too. Here, travelers can spot animals such as tigers, panthers, sambar deer, four-horned antelope and nilgais and is the den to around seventy species of resident birds.

Maa Mundeshwari Temple, Kaimur: The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti and is positioned in the mundeshwari hills. The temple is considered as the ‘Oldest Functional’ temple in the world as rituals have been performed here without a break.

Bhabua, Kaimur: It is one of the important cities on the map of Kaimur. It has a striking historical legacy as Bhabua is one of the subdivisions of the old district of Shahabad. A state of Mahatma Gandhi can be found in Ekta Chowk, which is the main market place of the city.

Karkat Waterfall, Kaimur: The spectacular waterfalls are in the Kaimur Hills. The waterfall is a widely loved spot for picnics as its cold waters offer several fun games and activities.

Durauli, Kaimur: It is a village and derives its substance from the existence of two ancient temples that were erected by the Cheros. The uniqueness of the temples lies in their age and the exquisite architecture as both temples are adorned with beautiful sculptures, engraved on the spire.

Sidhanath Temple, Kaimur: It is also known as Baba Ratan Puri Temple, and is a famous Lord Shiva Temple. It is situated near the village of Bararura along the Banks of Karmansa River.
