Kanpur is a major industrial tourist place in the state of Uttar Pradesh nestled on the banks of the eternal Ganga. It is the largest city of Uttar Pradesh. Formerly, Kanpur was known as Cawnpore and after wards it changed to Kanpur. It is believed that the name Kanpur has been derived from Karnapur. The name is associated with Karna that means “town of Karna”, who was the heroes of the popular Hindu epic, ‘The Mahabharata’. Kanpur is thought to be established in 1207 AD. It traces its importance back to the age of Ramayana and there has been empirical evidence to support it.  It is one of the most important city. As the city is renowned for leather and textile goods of fine quality, it is also known as ‘The Manchester of East’. After Kolkata, Kanpur has the second oldest 9 holes half Golf course in India. It is the home of India's largest artificial limbs factory.

  • The Kanpur Memorial Church, Kanpur: Originally called the All Souls Cathedral, it is a renowned church in Kanpur built in 1875, in honour of the British who lost their lives in the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. In present, it is popularly referred as the Kanpur Church.
  • Massacre Ghat, Kanpur: It stands to tell the tragic story to those who visit it. It has become extremely significant in history since the Revolt of 1857. Massacre Ghat is one of the prime Tourist Attractions in Kanpur located on the right bank of the River Ganga. The Ghat was renamed as Nana Rao Ghat as the rebellion was believed to have been led by Nana Sahib of Peshwa. Later, it later got recognized as Massacre Ghat.
  • The Jajmau, Kanpur: An ancient region dating back to 1300-1200 BC, Jajmau is known to be one of the largest tanneries in northern India. It is an ancient region dating back to 1300-1200 BC. 3,000 years old history unearthed at Jajmau.
  • The Jain Glass Temple, Kanpur: It is one of the major Jain temple dedicated to Jainism located in Maheshwari Mohal. The entire temple is adorned with intricate glass cut designs with an elaborately designed structure. The temple was constructed in the old and traditional style of building temples.
  • Allen Forest Zoo, Kanpur: Allen Forest Zoo is a must visit place in Kanpur. It is also known as Kanpur zoo. It was one of the few zoos in India to be created within a naturally situated forest. It is the largest open green space in Kanpur. Main attractions are – the botanical garden, lakes, aviary and the aquarium.
  • Shri Radhakrishna Temple, Kanpur:  It is an important temple in Kanpur. It contains five shrines dedicated to various Hindu deities.  Janmashtami, Diwali and others are some major festivals celebrated here with great enjoyment. The temple’s architecture is a marvelous example of neo-Hindu architecture and is built with carved white marble.
  • Bithoor, Kanpur: Bithoor is the birthplace of Ram's sons Luv and Kush. A small town in Kanpur, Bithoor is home to the sacred Ganges and attracts several pilgrims to this holy spot. It was also instrumental in the 1857 revolt in India and the famous battle of the Seige of Cawnpore. Bithoor has various tourist spots like the Valmiki Ashram, Brahmavart Ghat, Patthar Ghat, Dhruva Teela, Siddhidham Ashram etc. which are a must visit.
  • Nana Rao Park, Kanpur: Nana Rao Park is a site of great historical significance to the city located in the heart of Kanpur. Previously, it was known as Memorial Well. This park served as the execution site where 144 Indian revolutionaries were hanged.
