Kapurthala is emerging as an important development center in the state of Punjab. Due to its beautiful architecture, Kapurthala is also referred to as the ‘Paris of Punjab’ as most of the prominent buildings are based on French and Indo-Saracenic architecture. This is an important landmark which has rich cultural and historical significance. It is also known as city of Palaces & Gardens. The city of Kapurthala was founded by Nawab Kapur Singh. It is said that the present royal family of Kapurthala is descended from Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia. Various structures and historical monuments add charm and visual delight to the place.  Kapurthala tourism is dependent on the interesting places that offer temples, mosques, gardens and palaces. Some of the major tourist attractions are – Jagatjit Singh Palace, Elysee Palace, The Villa Buona Vista, Shalimar Garden, Panch Mandir, The War Memorial and others.   • Jagatjit Singh Palace, Kapurthala: It is one of the great tourist attraction in Kapurthala. This palace is named after Maharaja Jagatjit Singh. This palace was constructed in 1906. This palace consists of a wide range of artefacts that are collected from all over the world. Visiting this palace will evoke a feeling of grandeur and royalty.
  • Elysee Palace, Kapurthala: This palace is famous for its architectural and historical place. In present this monument is served as school. This historical palace was built under the reign of Kanwar Bikrama Singh that was started on the early years of 18th century and completed on the year 1862. It is a must visit for the history lovers.
  • Shalimar Garden, Kapurthala: It is a beautiful tourist destination in Kapurthala. There is a small pond that attracts many visitors inside the garden. This garden is also popular for its royal monuments that makes a perfect destination for every traveller. During evening time one can come here for hangouts and sit leisurely with family or loved ones.
  • Panch Mandir, Kapurthala: It is another popular tourist place in Kapurthala. It is one of the renowned temple and is very popular for housing the beautiful idols of different Gods and Goddesses. It adds a spark in the beauty of the temple. Many devotees visit this temple every day to worship different idols.
