Kishanganj is one of the beautiful town of Bihar, which is the district headquarters of Kishanganj district in Purnea division. This small town is in the lap of Himalaya with the surrounding border of Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal on the east, and Darjeeling district of West Bengal and Nepal on the north. Historically it belonged to Nepal until 1840, when Kishanganj became part of India as local ruler lost his battles with Mughals. As per mythology Kishanganj was associated with the great epic Mahabharat. The ancient name of this town was Nepalgarh. It is the only district in Bihar, which producing tea. Kishanganj is blessed with amazing natural, gorgeous Mahananda River, tea gardens etc.

Main Attractions
  • Nehru Shastri Park, Kishanganj: It is close to Bengal Bus Stand and Indira Talkies, the park is a good place to spend some leisure time. The park is lagging behind in basic amenities, but you will surely enjoy the serene environs and wonderful sight of colourful flowers and plants. The massive statue of Lord Buddha inside the park is the prime attraction.
  • Kargil Park, Kishanganj: It was built in the memory if martyrs of kargil war it is a new park in Kishanganj. It is located close to historic Ruidhasa market. Visit the park in the evening it will certainly refresh your mind and body.
  • Ruidhasa Maidan, Kishanganj: It is a historic ground and is the landmark of the Kishanganj District. The ground is the venue of political affairs in Kishanganj, and during election time the ground turns into a virtual fair.
  • Khagra Mela, Kishanganj: It is an annual fair; khagra mela was once considered one of the biggest fairs of Bihar and the country as well. It is inaugurated every year on January 26 and the fair goes for one month till February end.
  • Mahananda River, Kishanganj: It is one of the biggest Rivers in India; it divides the district into two parts. It also referred as the ‘Sorrow of Kishanganj’ because the river washes away crops and many villages during Monsoon.
  • Tea Garden, Kishanganj: The district also producing Tea Gardens, and about 10kms away from Kishanganj City in Belwa, there are acres and acres of lush gardens.
