Lakhisarai is one of the major town of Bihar, which is located at 50 km west of the town of Munger. Earlier, it was the part of the Munger District and in 1994 was separated. The town is known for its small scale industries like rice mills, sindur, drugs, iron rods and insecticide factories. The town lies on the banks of the Ganga, Harohar and Kiul rivers, which flow through the district. The history of Lakhsarai is very rich, the town was the capital of Pal dynasty. The Chinese traveler Huen Tsang narrated this place as it was the home of 10 Buddhist monasteries and four hundred Buddhist residents. Apart from this, Lakhisarai was also one of the most significant destination for Hindus as well as ten ancient Hindu temples were also found here.
