Lansdowne is a quite hill station which is still unspoilt and unexplored located in the state of Uttarakhand. It is situated at an altitude of 1,700 mts above sea level surrounded by thick oak and blue pine forests. Earlier, Lansdowne was known as ‘Kaludanda’ meaning ‘Black Hill’ in Garhwali. Unlike other hill stations, Lansdowne is a popular tourist destination since British period as this place was founded by the Lord Lansdowne, who was the Viceroy of India (1888 – 1894).This city was named after Lord Lansdowne. There are various buildings and churches which were constructed during British Raj. It is also known as “Quaint little hilly town”. Famous for its eco-friendly tourism it offers exciting opportunities for adventure activities like bird watching, trekking, rock climbing, mountaineering and jungle safaris. Cold winters and pleasant summers attracts a lot of tourist from across the country. Tourist can witness snowfalls during winter making it a perfect place for adventurous tour. Apart from this tourist can also go for nature walk and boating in the lake. The pristine environment of Lansdowne makes it a perfect weekend destination from Delhi.

  • Kanvashram, Lansdowne: It is a major tourist attraction in Lansdowne. This place is related to ancient stories where it is believed that Shakuntala, the step daughter of Sage Kanvan gave birth to her son Bharath in this Ashram.
  • Bhulla Tal (Lake), Lansdowne: It is a man-made artificial lake. It is also called as Bhulla Lake.  Literally means ‘Younger Brother’. It is a perfect, idyllic spot for leisure day-out. It is a famous place in Lansdowne. Tourist can enjoy boating which is well-enjoyed by people of all age groups.
  • St Mary Church,Lansdowne: St Mary Church is a historic church in Lansdowne. It was constructed by Colonel AHB Hume in 1896. Now it is a small museum as it was taken charged by the Garhwal Regimental Centre showcasing old pictures and stories of the pre-independence era. It is a wonderful experience because of its architecture.
  • Jungle Safari, Lansdowne: Surrounded by beautiful oak, silver fir, spruce, bamboo and pine forests it is one of the popular attraction of Lansdowne. Jungle safari are available with affordable rates which is the best way to explore. Best for adventurous tourists.
