Lawngtlai is a beautiful town in Lawngtlai district. Situated within the tropical belt where one can find some mixed with dense forest It is a picturesque place with mountains, riverines and valleys. This district is bounded by neighboring countries such as Bangladesh on the west and Myanmar on the east. The name Lawngtlai has been derived from a Lai Chief named Haihmunga Hlawncheu, who established this village in 1880. It was said that he seized a boat that was drifting down the Kalan River. Lawng means ‘and Tlai means ‘Seized’. Hence the name Lawngtai was formed. It offers breathtaking beautiful and mesmerizing view of the rivers flowing through this region and let us immerse in the beauty of the place. There is an interesting feature that Lawngtlai consists of six main rivers namely Kaladan River, Tuichong River, Chhimtuipui River, Ngengpui River, Chawngte River and Tuiphal River. Tourist coming to visit this place gives you a complete makeover to the diverse cultures and landscape of Lawngtlai. There are several tourist destinations like – Chawngte, Blue Mountain, Sinemon Wildlife Sanctuary etc. It is a tough job to explore the nature’s bounty but once it is explored, one can become the empire of that undiscovered destination. 

Main Attractions
  • Mullianpui, Lawngtlai: It is a small well-known village in Lawngtlai. Mullianpui is good for trekking route from Uiphum to Tuiehong. Great place for leisure tourism. Tourist coming to visit this place can view the local life and culture along with visiting the tourist attractions nearby.
  • Chawngte, Lawngtlai: Chawngte is another important village in located in Lawngtlai district. No one can collect any memories until you visit that destination. Take a walk around the village and feel the Mizo culture and tradition with some special local brew and food. It is an ideal village with rivers, mountains, valleys and a simple life led by the villagers. This place is best for solo travellers who like to discover every beauty of nature.
  • Uiphum, Lawngtlai: Every towns and village life is different from each other. Uimphum is another small village far away from hustle and bustle of city life. Here you can find Lai community tribes who follows Buddhism, though they mainly believe in Christianity. It is a serene place for leisure tourism. Best time to visit this village is from December to February.
