Lucknow is a popular tourist destination and the capital city of Uttar Pradesh situated on the bank of Gomti. It was the seat of a line of nawabs who gave the city its unique identity. It is the seventh largest city in Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow is also known as “City of Nawabs”. The origin of Lucknow is a myth to the common man. According to Legends, it is believed that the city was founded by Lakshmana, the brother of Lord Rama. It was the epicenter of the 1857 War of Independence. It is famous for extraordinary monuments depicting a fascinating blend of ancient, colonial and oriental architecture. The history of Lucknow dates to the 14th century and it was a part of the Awadh region. Later, during the British period, the seat of administration was shifted from Awadh to Lucknow. It is The Golden City of The East. Lucknow is a beautiful city that gives truly a memorable remark after visiting it. Tourist can explore the ancient Indian Heritage City by walking through the lane. 

Main Attractions
  • Bara Imam bara, Lucknow: It is one of the most famous monuments in Lucknow. The name of this monument got after the Nawab of Lucknow known as Asfi Imam bara. It is said to be the world’s largest unsupported structure. The Imam bara is specially known for its incredible maze, known as Bhul Bhulaiya locally, which is in the upper floor of the monument.
  • Chota Imam bara, Lucknow: The Chhota Imam bara is one of the most beautiful and attractive buildings in the old city. It is also known as the Imam bara of Hussainabad. The imposing monument lies to the west of Bara Imam bara. It was built by Muhammad Ali Shah, the third Nawab of Awadh in 1838. It is also known as palace of lights because of its decorations and chandeliers during special festivals.
  • Ambedkar Memorial Park, Lucknow: The Ambedkar Memorial Park is another tourist attracting places constructed by the Mayawati Government in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. It is a lovely park where people can come and enjoy the evening with their beloved one.
  • Lucknow Zoo, Lucknow: Lucknow Zoo was established by 1921. Earlier it was known as Prince of Wales Zoological Gardens.  It is popularly known as Lucknow Zoological Garden.   The zoo is being managed as a trust by the Zoo Advisory Committee, with Forest Secretary to the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Rumi Darwaza, Lucknow: It is an imposing gateway which was built under the patronage of Nawab Asaf-Ud-daula in 1784 – 86.  It is also known as the Turkish Gate and displays Awadhi architectural style. It used to mark the entrance to Old Lucknow City. Later it is used as an entrance to a palace which was later demolished by the British insurgents.
  • Kaiserbagh Palace, Lucknow: It is one of the most popular memorials in Lucknow that is a tourist favourite. It is renowned for several tourist attractions among the monuments in Lucknow. It was built between 1848 and 1850.
