Mangan is an elegant town located in the North Sikkim District. Mangan is emerging as a new tourist destination which is well defined as charming hamlet of Sikkim. It serves as the opening destination in the north district of Sikkim. Magan was invaded by the Bhutanese. Later it was invaded by the Qing Dynasty of China. This town opens the Tibetan Plateau. This place will take you to numerous tourist attractions and excursions in and around the town and this is an interesting fact about Mangan. There are many reasons behind to visit Mangan. It is a beautiful place resides in the pure hearts of Mangan. It has become a major tourist location mainly for the adventure seekers as they can commence treks and tours to other parts of this district. Beside developing, Mangan provides the breath-taking view of the Kanchenjunga range. There are few tourist destination places such as hot water spring, and the Labrang monastery which is worth visiting. One can also visit the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary that is the home to more than forty species of plants. Yumthang Valley is a must visit while in Mangan. Tourist can capture the beautiful landscape surrounded by scenic valley.

  • Labrang Monastery, Mangan: This monastery is an important religious place in Mangan. The meaning of Labrang means ‘the lamas dwelling’. It was constructed in 1814 and follows the principles of ‘Nyingmapa School of Tibetan Buddhism’. It was built in the honour of Latsun Chembo of KongPu, who introduced Buddhist schools in Sikkim.
  • Sirijonga Yuma Mangheem, Mangan: It is a heritage site/house built in the year 1983 by the neighbourhood hamlets. This house resembles the Sirijonga Yuma Mangheem at Martam in West Sikkim. The Manghey Sankranti festival is celebrated in the month of January every year in Sirijonga Yuma Mangheem.  This festival is mostly celebrated by the Napalese community with great enthusiasm.
