Mashobra is a small town located in Shimla District of Himanchal Pradesh. Located at an altitude of 2146 meters, Mashobra is known for its unique beauty. Mashobra hosts Presidential retreat which was established in 1850 by the Britishers for Viceroy of India. Mashobra is a very popular tourist destination due to its well connectivity and close vicinity to Shimla. Mashobra is officially part of Shimla Water Catchmentanct Wildlife Sanctuary hence the region is covered with thick forest of pine, oak, cedar, maple and chestnut. Best time to visit Mashobra are during March to June, while people who love snow can visit during the winters. Some places of interest in Mashobra are Craignano, Mahasu Peak and Fair, Reserve Forest Sanctuary, and Wild Flower Hall Hotel. 

Main Attractions
  • Wild Flower Hall: Wild Flower Hall is one of the most popular attraction of Mashobra. It is located at the distance of about 3kms from the town at an elevation of 2,498 m above the sea level.
  • Reserve Forest Sanctuary: Surrounded by the thick forest of oak, pine and cedar and Indus River, which is the home of various species of flora and fauna. It is situated at 4 Kms from Mashobra and is an important part of the Shimla Reserve Forest Sanctuary. It offers the splendid view of Pir Panjal Mountains.
  • Mahasu Peak: Mahasu Peak is one of the most popular attraction of the town, which named after Lord Mahasu, the main deity of the region.

Mashobra is one of the most picturesque, tranquil and small hill station of Himachal Pradesh, hence no Malls, multiplex or amusement parks are available here. Various adventure activities are available in the town. 
 
Getting There
  • By Air- The nearest airport is the Chandigarh airport which is a distance of 123 km away from the Mashobra. It is well connected with all major cities of India.
  • By Train- The nearest major railway Station is Kalka, which is located at the distance of about 89kms from Shimla and 98kms from Mashobra. The Kalka railway station is well connected with all major cities of India.  Shimla has also a small railway station and no major trains ply here, however it connected to Kalka by a toy train to Shimla, which is located at 13kms away.
  • By Road- Mashobra is well connected via Shimla. You can hire taxis as well as state buses to reach the hill station from these cities.
