Mukteshwar is a small hill station and a pleasing tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand state. Mukteshwar is also known as ‘The Apple Country’. This place got its name from an old temple named Mukteshwar Dham which is a 350 years old. The residing deity of this temple is Lord Shiva. Locallt, it is known as Chauli-ki-Jali.  Mukteshwar is an unspoiled destination which has a lot to offer. Mukteshwar is also famous as the land horror-stricken by man-eating tigers. Jim Corbett who visited this place and saved the local people from the man-eating tiger depict this place in his book named Man-Eaters of Kumaon. Previously Mukteshwar was called as Muktesar. After 1947, the name changed to Mukteshwar.  It is rich in scenic beauty where tourist can enjoy the magnificent views of the Himayalas. It allows a breath-taking view of Nanda Devi Peak which is India’s second highest peak. It is one of the best tourist destination for nature lovers and photographers. One can also go for short trekking, rock climbing, rappelling etc. for adventure lovers.

  • Mukteshwar Temple, Mukteshwar: Mukteshwar Temple is the major tourist attractions of Mukteshwar situated at the top of a hill. It is one of the sacred places for Hindus dedicated to Lord Shiva. The name of this region is given after this temple. It is 350 years old. It a perfect place for clicking some wonderful pictures and capturing memories.
  • Chauthi Jaali, Mukteshwar: Chauthi Jaali is a historical place situated adjacent to the Mukteshwar temple. Locally it is also known as Chauli Ki Jali. According to legends, it is believed that a battle between demon and Goddess took place here where imprints are of that battle can still be seen. It is also believed that barren women are blessed with a child if they touched the lattice around the rock.
  • Mukteshwar Inspection Bungalow, Mukteshwar: It is a Bungalow in Mukteshwar which is an architectural wonder situated close to the Mukteshwar temple. Best place for refreshment. Tourist are attracted by the amazing natural beauty.
