Munnar is a town and an idyllic hill station located in the Idukki district of south Indian state Kerala.  It is believed that the name Munnar has been derived from ‘three rivers’ namely - the Mudhirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. This beautiful town was formed on 24th January 1961 where the district Coimbatore lies in the north, Pallivasal in the south, Devikulam and Marayoor in the east and Mankulam, Kuttampuzha panchayaths in the west. Munnar is set amidst looming hills situated in the Western Ghats range of mountains. Tourists are most welcomed by the panoramic view of the hill and the sweet aroma of tea gardens that makes an ideal place for romantic evening stroll. One can get to experience endless stretches of bright green tea plantations. Munnar is renowned for one of the biggest tea-plantation of South India. It is rich in nature’s bounty apart from the tea-plantations. Neelakurinji is one of the exotic floras found in the forests here. Anamudi is the highest peak in Munnar, best and ideal place for trekking. Munnar has lots of ample opportunities for every traveler and one can enjoy the captivating hill station of Munnar.

  • Mattupetty Dam, Munnar:  It is a famous hill town and main attraction in Mattupetty, located near the confluence of the mountain streams of Muthirappuzha River, Chanduvarai River and Kundale River. The Mattupetty Dam and the beautiful lake are ideal picnic spot and is visited by many tourists. Visitors can enjoy a serene boat ride on the calm waters.
  • Pallivasal Falls, Munnar: This waterfall serves as a perfect place for picnicking with your loved ones located near Devikulam. Enjoy a quiet walk along the well-maintained roads or simply marvel at the mist covered mountains and lush tea plantations.
  • Munnar Tea Museum, Munnar: Munnar is famous for world class tea gardens. One can take a visit to the tea museum. Tata Tea recently opened a Tea Museum which houses curious, photographs and machineries for the visitors who loves to have a sip of tea. Efforts are given to make Munnar a major plantation centre of Kerala.
  • Anayirangal Lake/Dam, Munnar: Anavirangal is one of the most scenic lake and dam in Munnar. It is a famous tourist destination visited by a lot of tourists. Nature and peace lovers are most welcomed. Anayirangal Dam is also known as Anayirankal Dam. It is one of the best location for photography. You can go for boating on the lake.
  • Attukal Waterfalls:  Munnar is blessed with numerous waterfalls, Attukal waterfalls comes on the way to Pallivasal which is one of the most mesmerizing creation of nature, set amidst the looming hills and forest. It is located 9kms away from the Munnar town.  This place is ideal for picnic spot. Attukal offers the beauty of water falling from the top of the mountain.
