Omkareshwar is famous for the Omkareshwar Temple. This place is considered to be one of the holiest Hindu sites in the nation. The name Omkareshwar means "Lord of Omkaara” or the “Lord of the sound of OM”. The island of omkareshwar is naturally shaped like ‘om’, the sacred Hindu symbol. It is a holy town situated at a distance of 77 km from Indore located on the south bank of Narmada River on the mainland.
