Ranthambore the mega tourist destination is situated in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan state. It is nearby the Pink City, Jaipur and heritage city of Kota. Ranthambore is well-known for the famous Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary. The name of this place has been derived from the Ranth-ambhor Fort situated within its areas.This forest area was once a hunting reserves of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Later in the year 1955, it was established as sanctuary and declared as a Project Tiger reserves in the year 1973. This island is virtually rich in flora and fauna. The National Park is consisting of three lakes namely - The Padam Talab, the Raj Bagh Talab and the Malik Talab which are exotic and beautiful. Other than this, this Sanctuary has become one of the world’s best Wildlife sanctuary to witness Royal Bengal Tiger. It is also a home for different kinds of animals. This is the place where tourist can find the largest of all Asiatic deer. Apart from this, there are more than 300 varieties of birds making it a perfect destination for ‘Birds lover paradise’, where one can figure out some most rare migratory birds. It is said that towards the end of 17th century, this fort was gifted to Maharaja of Jaipur by the Mughals.
