Rewaslar also known as Tso Pema in Tiberian is a small town located in Mandi district of Himanchal Pradesh. Located at an elevation of 1360 meters it is connected to Mandi via a motorable road. Summers in Rewaslar is pleasant however summers can be freezing. The town is sacred for all three Dharmic religion namely Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. For Hindus the place is connected to Mahabharata and legends of Shiva, for Sikhs the place is linked to Guru Gobind Singh and for Buddhists the place is linked to Padmasambhava who is sometimes known as second Buddha. Rewaslar is most famous for Rewaslar Lake which is situated in this town. The lake is surrounded by various temple and monasteries due to its religious importance. There is another famous lake in the town known as Kunt Bhyog which is located at an elevation of about 1700 meters. This lake is associated with ‘Lakhshagrih’ or House of Wax incident in Mahabharata.

  • Rewalsar Lake: Raleshwar Lake is one of the major attraction of Rewalsar. It is also known as Tso Pema Lotus Lake, located at an elevation about 1,360 m above sea level. It is one of the most religious place for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists equally. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful hills, which offers the amazing natural beauty.
  • Nyingma Gompa: Nyingma Gompa is the first monastery, built in Rewalsar, which is located on the right along the lake front. The monastery was established by Dudjom Rinpoche, a renowned master from the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. The major attraction of the Gompa is its Peace Bell, which is one of the 17th in various holiest Buddhist destination throughout Asia. Another major attraction is large statue of Padmasambhava.
  • Drikung Kagyu Monastery: Drikung Kagyu Monastery is another major attraction of Rewalsar, it is the home to various monks and nuns. It was established in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumg. The Monastery is currently headed by two Kyabgon Rinpoches.
  • Zigar Drukpa Kagyud Monastery: Zigar Drukpa Kagyud Monastery is one of the most popular tourist attraction of Rewalsar. The Monestry is located on the west side of the Rewalsar lake. It houses the large statue of “Padmsambhava”.
  • Zangdok Palri Palace Monastery: Situated on the North side of the Rewalsar Lake, Zangdok Palri Palace Monastery is another important religious tourist attraction of Rewalsar. It is the newest monastery of the town.
  • Gurudwara Rawalsar Sahib: Established in 1930 by Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi, Gurudwara Rawalsar Sahib is one of the holiest pilgrim destination for Sikh. It believed that Guru Gobind Singh ji was vsited here when he sought to evolve a common strategy with the hill rulers against the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
