Saputara is a picturesque hill station that is located in the Dang district of the state Gujarat. Saputara is also known as the 'Abode of Serpents'. It is believed that the tribal inhabitants used to worship snakes during Holi.  It is only hill station of Gujarat that is still unspoiled. It is one of the major tourist attraction places in Gujarat. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ram with his wife Sit and his brother Lakshmana has spent their 11 years of exile in the Saputara forest. To promote Saputara as an upcoming tourist visiting site, Gujarat tourism organizes a great monsoon festival to attract maximum tourist every year. The festival mainly focused on the natural beauty and the unique culture of Saputara. On the lap of nature, this place offers you to enjoy the enchanting waterfalls, beautiful gardens, museum, heritage walk, food fiestas, etc. making it a perfect gateway for eco-lovers and also a great place for adventure tourism.

  • Sunrise Point, Saputara: Sunrise Point is one of the most marvelous views for tourists. It can be reached after doing a walk of certain 1.5 km on the way of Waghai. It is a place where you can enjoy the sunrise and the panoramic views of Saputara. The Sunrise Point is fabulous that offers a bird’s eye view of Saputara and adjoining Malegoan. Nearby, there are also some unique gardens that add more charm to the nature.
  • Echo Point, Saputara: It is a famous vantage point and picnic haunt in Saputara. As the name suggests, tourist comes here and can hear the echo of their voice. It is a scenic beauty site and a great peaceful getaway in Saputara. As it is a famous hill station in Gujarat it offers many options for photography lovers.
  • Rose Garden, Saputara: The Rose Garden is a famous tourist place in Saputara. Tourist visiting this place can boasts some positive energy from the fragrance of roses. There are varieties of roses. This is the place one should not be missed while in town. It attracts many tourists from all over India.
  • Saputara Lake, Saputara: Saputara Lake is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Saputara. It is a lake comprised with lush greenery surrounded by hills. It is a picturesque place to rejoice and relax. From here one can see the distant panorama of the majestic Sahyadri Hills, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are facilities for boat-ridings where tourist can explore breathtaking landscapes and hilly backgrounds making it a great place for children.
  • Waghai Botanical Garden: It is a man-made garden which includes several common and exotic plants. There are total 1400 species of Indian flora. There are also some rare plants that can be captured in camera. Informative boards are displayed all over the garden to educate people about these plants.
  • Sunset Point: Enjoy the spectacular view point of Sunset. It is also known as Gandhi Shikhar and a prominent attraction in the scenic hill station of Saputara. Tourists and visitors can either take two options for the one kilometre long walk or the ropeway. One can see the tribal villages and dense forests that are visible from this viewpoint. It is a great place for photography lovers.
  • Saputara Tribal Museum: It is a wonderful museum where tourist can explore the splendid heritage of Dang's native tribes and their unique tradition and culture. There are many tribal artifacts among which Warli paintings and tribal craft are most popular. Beside this there are grass ornaments, wooden carvings, musical instruments and props are displayed in the museum.
  • Nageshwar Mahadev Temple: Nageshwar Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. People of Saputara worshipped him here as the God of snakes (Nageshwar). This temple is situated on the southern tip nestled along the banks of Saputara Lake. It witnesses a huge influx of devotees on Mahashivratri.
  • Hatgadh Fort: The Hatgadh Fort is an ancient fortress that overlooks some splendid landscapes. It is situated on the state border between Gujarat and Maharashtra, near Saputara. This fort was built by the great Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji during his reign. It is also a great place for photography.
  • Vansda National Park: Vansda National Park is an open park where the main entrance is from Kilad village. It’s a 10 minute drive from Vansda town. As per the official report, this forest was untouched since 1952 and not a single tree has been cut. It is declared as National Park in the year 1979. There are around 450 variety of plant species,155 bird species, and other endangered animals like - barking deer, hyena, jungle cat, Indian porcupine, flying squirrel, python, Leopard, rhesus macaque, common palm civet, Hanuman langur etc.
  • Purna Sanctuary: Purna Sanctuary is dense moist deciduous forest that is situated in the Western Ghat of Gujarat. It is one of the last remaining patches of moist deciduous forest in Gujarat declared as a sanctuary in July 1990. It is a protected forest areas in south Gujarat home to many species of birds like the grey crimson sunbird, woodpecker are common in the sanctuary. As there are no proper restaurants, it is advisable to carry food. Best time to visit this sanctuary is from November to March.
