Taptapani is a beautiful town that is situated near Gopalpur nestled in the clusters of green hills of the Eastern Ghats. This is an important tourist destination located at a distance of 240km from the city Bhubaneswar. The name Taptapani has been derived from two Sanskrit words, ‘Tapta’ means ‘hot’ and ‘Pani’ means ‘water’. Literally it means hot water. It is believed that people taking bath in this water get rid of all types of skin diseases due to the curative sulphur or medicinal properties content of the water. Taptapani is best known for both pilgrimage as well as tribal tourism. Devotees from all over India come here to visit this place. Another important attraction of Odisha is its tribal communities such as Kutia Kondh, Bonda, Dingara Kondh, and Mali. It offers some amazing sightseeing of this region and best for a perfect place to explore the nature beauty. Apart from this, Taptapani is a home place for many poet, scholars, writers, picnickers. Some of the major tourist attractions are - Sri Nilakantheswar Temple, the deer park and the Tibetan settlement. This region can be utilized as tourist destinations throughout the year but ideal time is from October to March.   • Chandragiri, Taptapani: This place is famous for Buddhist monastery. It is a small town near Taptapani. Popular attraction of this place is a small market, near the main bus stand of Lobersing. Tibetan wall mats, handicrafts, leather goods and carpets.
