Udhampur is one of city of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Udhampur is surrounded by Shivalik hills, which are part of Himalayas are and relatively newer. The city derives its name from Raja Udham Singh who is said to have founded the city back in around 14th century BC. The city is located at an elevation of 327 meters which results in humid subtropical climate where summers can be very hot with temperature rising to 46 degree Celsius while winters are cool with temperature dropping to around 7 degree Celsius. Vaishnav Devi a temple shrine dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi which brings in millions of pilgrims every year is only 40 kms away from this town. Apart from Vaishnav Devi temple Udhampur is known for Bahu Fort which is said to be built by Raja Jambu Lochan about 3000 years ago, however it was renovated back in 19th Century CE. 

Main Attractions
  • Bahu Fort: It is one of the most popular tourist attraction of Jammu and situated around 70 kms from Udhampur. Bahu Fort is one of the oldest fort of Jammu which is believed that it is dated back to 3,000 years ago by Raja Bahulochan. And during the 19th century it was restored by Dogra rulers.The major attraction of the fort is Bahu Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Kali, the goddess considered second only to Mata Vaishno Devi in terms of mystical power.
  • Raghunath Mandir: Raghunath Mandir is one of the major temple of Jammu and Kashmir situated around 60kms from Udhampur which consists of a complex of seven Hindu shrines, each with its own Shikhara.  It is also one of the largest temple complexes of north India. Raghunath Mandir is devoted to lord Rama. The temple was built by Maharaja Gulab Singh and his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh of the Jamwal Rajput during 1822–1860. It was the major place of worship for Dogra royal family.
  • Bagh-E-Bahu: It is the major attraction of Udhampur. Bagh-E-Bahu is situated along the fort of Bahu. The beautiful garden is laid identical to Mughal Garden and is situated on the embankment of Tawi River. It is said to be, the fort was built by an earlier ruler and was reconstructed during 19th century by Raja Gulab Singh.
  • Mansar Lake: Situated 38 km from Udhampur , Mansar Lake is one of the most scenic lake of the region. The lake is surrounded by forest covered hills along with few temples are located here such as Sheshnag Temple, Narsimha temple, Umapati Mahadev. You can also enjoy the boating on Manasar Lake, Boating facilities provided by the tourism board of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • Ranbireshwar Temple: Another popular shrine of Jammu, Ranbireshwar Temple was built by Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1883. The temple is devoted to the Lord Shiva. There are various shivalingas along with a Nandi Bull, located within the temple complex.
