Chandigarh is one of most popular city in North India and capital of two states of Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh is directly governed by the Union Government as it is a Union Territory of India. It is located near the foothills of the Sivalik range of the Himalayas. Sometimes it is also known as ‘The City Beautiful’ occasionally. Architecturally, world-renowned city is also the best-planned city in India. It is also the hub of North India. In terms of architecture, cultural growth and modernization, Chandigarh is the perfect cities of the world. The city has a pre-historic past. According to 2010, the city was reported to be the cleanest in India. The name Chandigarh has been derived from two words Chandi and Garh, where Chandi refers to Hindu Goddess Parvati and Garh means home. It is believed to be the home to the Harappans about 8000 years ago. Chandigarh offers some most spectacular tourist attractions such as the Capitol Complex, Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake and others. In July 2016, The Capitol Complex was declared as World Heritage at the 40th session of World Heritage Conference held in Istanbul by UNESCO. Chandigarh is one of the best tourist destination in the state of Punjab. It is also popular for its glamorous and graceful wedding ceremonies and tours are planned accordingly.

  • The Capitol Complex, Chandigarh: In July 2016, The Capitol Complex was declared as World Heritage at the 40th session of World Heritage Conference held in Istanbul by UNESCO. It houses the seat of Government. Main attractions are comprising of three buildings, three monuments and a lake, including the Palace of Assembly or Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, Open Hand Monument, Geometric Hill and Tower of Shadows.
  • Open Hand Monument, Chandigarh: The Open Hand Monument is another important tourist visiting places in Chandigarh. It is a frequent theme in Le Corbusier's architecture, a symbol for him of "peace and reconciliation. It is open to give and open to receive". The Symbol of the emblem says, ‘Open to Give – Open to Receive’.
  • Rock Garden, Chandigarh: It is one of the most attractive tourist visiting places in Chandigarh. It is a unique rock garden where tourist can witness exquisite artwork made from industrial and urban waste materials like frames, mudguards, forks, handle bars, metal wires, broken bangles etc. It is an epitome of creativity and innovation. It has been established in the form of an open-air exhibition hall.
  • Rose Garden, Chandigarh: It is also known as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. It is a botanical garden with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different species. This garden was named after the former president, Zakir Hussain and created in 1967 built under Dr. M.S. Randhawa. It is one of the largest gardens in Asia. Best place for nature lovers and photographers.
