Amritsar is a well-known pilgrimage city in India. It is a great center of Sikh pilgrimage where the origin of this city lies hidden in its early history. This is the land where most of the people are Sikh. Amritsar is one of the most prosperous city in the state of Punjab. This city has always been associated with loyalty, strong minds and good food. Amritsar has a magnificent past, impressive present and a hopeful future, for which it is valued as title of the jewel of Punjab. The name Amritsar has been named after the sacred pool in the Golden Temple which means the Pool of Nectar. Being the most sacred city of Punjab, it is also an important tourist attraction places in India. It is a flourishing city with significant religious centers and historical sites. This eternal city is well-known for the ‘Golden Temple’. People believed that taking a visit to this sacred temple is to purify the soul of the pilgrims. There are other various tourist places such as the Ram Bagh Gardens, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple and Baba Atal Rai Tower which can be visited while touring to Amritsar. Tourist can also experience how people were brutally fired upon by the troops of Britishers near Jallianwala Bagh during British Rule.   • The Golden Temple, Amritsar: The Golden Temple of Amritsar is one of the most world renowned and revered Sikh Gurudwara that opens door to millions of devotees from India and its far-off lands. It is situated right at the heart of Amritsar. It is a must visit place which was founded by the fourth guru Ram Das in the year 1577. This temple is the main factor in developing tourism industry. It represents both Hindu and Islamic architecture.
  • Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar: This is one of the most holy and prominent tourist visiting places in Amritsar due to its popular name in the chapters of Indian history. During the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919, people were killed brutally by the troops of Britishers. Thousands of enthusiastic travellers visit this place every day. It is bounded by all sides with towering walls, houses and buildings. Visiting this historical place will surely leave visitors speechless.
  • Ram Bagh Palace/gardens, Amritsar: Ram Bagh Palace/gardens was constructed under the supervision of Faqir-Aziz-ul-Din, Desa Singh and Sardar Lehna Singh Majithia. It was the summer residence of Maharaja Ranjit Singh (1818 – 1837) A.D. There he built a beautiful garden on the Mughal pattern of Shalimar Gardens, Lahore. The whole Ram Bagh complex including Rambagh Palace is declared as protected monument by the Punjab Government.
  • Baba Atal Rai, Amritsar: It is another holy place for Sikh. Baba Atal Rai was son of Guru Hargobind ji. It is a significant Gurudwara and one of the tallest tower in the city of Amritsar. The tower was built between 1778 and 1784.
