Ludhiana is an interesting tourist destination place in the state of Punjab. Situated on the banks of the river Sutlej it is a quite popular for being the largest city in this Northern state of India. Ludhiana came in existence during 9th century. It is the site of a great battle in the First Sikh War that took place in the year 1845. Earlier, this city was called as Lodhiana named after the Lodhi Princes from Delhi who founded the place in 1480. Literally, it means the town of the Lodhi 's. Ludhiana is rightly known as the ‘manufacturing capital of Punjab’ as it got the status of Industrial hub and famous to produce sewing machines. Popularly the city is called as the ‘Manchester of India’. This rapidly growing metropolitan city of Punjab is also a hub of the religious shrines, monuments and tourist’s attractions.
