Situated between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal to its east, Visakhapatnam is one of the most important coastal and port cities of Andhra Pradesh in the eastern shore of India. The city is known as "The Jewel of the East Coast". The city is having the glorious past which stretches back to the 6th century B.C.E. As per the historical records, the city named after the god of Valor-Vishakha. Visakhapatnam was also a part of the Kalinga Kingdom during 260 B.C. under Ashoka's rule. Apart from this the city was also ruled by various other dynasties such as Chola and Ganga, later Vishakhapatnam became a part of the Vijayanagar Empire during 15th century. Often known as Vizag, Vishakhapatnam offers a lot tourist attraction in the form of rich Culture and Heritage, beaches, hills, caves and valleys.
