Panipat one of the historical town of Haryana, which is located at about 90kms from Delhi. The city was witness to three great battles of the Indian history, the battles fought at the city in 1526, 1556 and 1761. According to the mythology, the city was associated with Mahabharata as Panipat was one of the five cities, which was founded by the Pandava (the legend of Mahabharata). It is one of the Industrial town and biggest center of handloom weaving industry. It is known for quality blankets and carpets in India. 

Main Attractions
  • Panipat Museum, Panipat: The society set up by the Haryana Government has built a museum to highlight the important historical events leading to the three battles of Panipat and their impact on the overall history of the country. The museum displays objects that highlight the patriotism and velour of the sons of the country who sacrificed their lives to drive away the Muslim invaders.
  • Devi Temple, Panipat: The Temple located in Panipat, and was built by a Maratha ruler in 8th century. It is an excellent example of Maratha heritage in the region. It houses ancient sculptures and is designed in religious style architecture typical of India.
  • Hemu’s Samadhu Sthal, Panipat: It is popularly known as Hemu, was a resident of Rewari in Haryana. He rose to acquire the title of Samarat Hem Chander Vikramaditya by virtue of his sheer intelligence, military capabilities and velour. He fought against the Mughal armies in the Second Battle of Panipat. Just when he was about to win the battle his eye was hit by an arrow.
  • Kala Amb, Panipat: It was built in memory of the Marathas who fought with Ahmed Shah Abdali in the Third Battle of Panipat in the year 1761. It is believed that the colour of the mango tree was black since it stood upon the soil that was mixed with the blood of the soldier.
  • Kabuli Bagh, Panipat: It is comprising a garden, a mosque and a tank was built by Mughal Emperor Babur to celebrate his victory over Ibrahim Lodhi in the First Battle of Panipat. The entire memorial including the mosque, the tank and the garden still exist in perfect shape some 2kms from the city of Panipat.
  • Tomb of Bu: Ali Shah Kalandar, Panipat: - The tomb is situated in Kalandar chowk named after him in the heart of the city. The tomb also houses the grave of the famous Urdu poet Khawaja Altaf Hussain Hali Panipatti. People of all the communities visit the tomb every Thursday to offer prayers and seek his blessings.
