Badrinath is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage site in India situated in the town of Badrinath. The name has been derived from the Badrinath temple. According to mythics, Badrinath is often called as Badri Vishal and was re-established by Adiguru Shankaracharya as he recovered the idol of Lord Badrinath according to Skand Puran in the 8th century A.D. He received the lost prestige of Hinduism. It is a holy pilgrimage site and a gateway to the awesome beauty of the snow-clad mountain peaks. It is a place which holds so many myths and legends. There is no historical record of this region but the presence of the Badrinath Temple indicates the Vedic Period. It is said that the temple was once the shrine of Buddhist till the 8th century. Later it was converted to a Hindu temple. Due to its age and flood, the temple has to undergone several major renovations. Books like Bhagavata Purana, Skanda Purana and Mahabharata has mentioned this temple. In present, its fame has increased significantly and pilgrims from all over India comes here for the darshan of this temple. Best time to visit this temple is from the month of June to September.

  • Tapta Kund, Badrinath: It is another major attraction in Badrinath. It is a pond that bears sulphur water located at Chamoli, Garhwal. Taking dip into the water has become a ritual by the Hindu pilgrimage before entering the shrine. It is also believed to be the holy abode of Agni God.
  • Mata Murti Temple, Badrinath: Mata Murti Temple is also a must visit place after visiting Badrinath temple. It is situated on the right bank of Alaknanda river. It takes around half to one hour to reach this temple. This temple is dedicated to the Mata Murti, who is the mother of Nar and Narayan or Lord Badrinath.
  • Vasudhara Falls, Badrinath: Vasundhara Falls is another most picturesque tourist attracting places in Badrinath which is 12,000 feet above sea level. One can trek to Vasundhara falls from Mana Village. It is one of the famous trekking site. It appears like streams of milk flows down from the mountain. Best time to visit this place is in between the month of March and June.
  • Mana Village, Badrinath: Mana village is another tourist attraction in the district of Chamoli. It’s believed that Pandavas had passed through Mana village. This place is attracted by many tourists. It is 03km away from Badrinath. It is the last village of India.  The picturesque beauty takes you to other world that gives you peace of mind and soul.
  • Bheem Pul, Badrinath: Bheem Pul is 3km away from Badrinath. This bridge is built across the river Saraswati. It is believed that Bheema (one of the five Pandavas from Mahabharata) made this natural bridge for his beloved wife Draupadi. This was the place where the Pandavas started their journey to Swargarohini (heaven).
  • Ganesha Cave, Badrinath: Ganesha Cave is another popular tourist attraction in Badrinath. This cave is situated near the Vyas cave. It is believed that this is the cave where Ganesha wrote Mahabharata recited by Vyas Muni.
