Haridwar is also known as Land of Hari and holy city in the state of Uttarakhand, lies on the banks of river Ganga. It is the gateway to the Char Dham Yatra which includes – Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Haridwar was referred to as Gangadwára in the ancient times where the Ganges descends to the plains. Foreigners are attracted by the diverse nature of the Hindu religion. Haridwar is the primary place from where River Ganges emerges from the mountains and enters to the plain areas. The name Haridwar has been derived from two words Hari means ‘Lord’ or ‘God’ and Dwar means ‘Gate’. Literally, it means Gateway to God. Pilgrims believe that after a holy dip in the river Ganges at Haridwar, they can go to heaven by getting release from the endless cycle of life and death. This is land blessed by three Gods – Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. Some of the most eye-catching and enjoyable sightseeing of Haridwar are the sunrise and sunset, Ganga aarti, chanting of mantras by the saints near the river Ganga and so on. Haridwar is also famous for Yoga Ashrams and Meditations that are now integral part of lifestyle of every human being for their better wellness.   • Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar, Haridwar: It is one of the major tourist attraction in Haridwar.  Mansa Devi Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Mansa Devi, wife of the Nag King Vasuki. It is located atop the Bilwa Parvat on the Sivalik Hills. It is also known as Bilwa Tirth. It is believed that visiting this temple, wishes of devotee’s wishes are fulfilled. It is an ancient temple that attracts people from both far and near due to its significance.
  • Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar: Har Ki Pauri is a major landmark in the state of Uttarakhand. The words “Har ki Pauri” means the footsteps of Lord Shiva. According to legends it is said that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu visited this place and from this the land got its name.  There is a large foot print on the walls which is said to be of Lord Vishnu’s. Thousands of tourists and devotees gathered here throughout the year. Tourist can witness maximum devotees during the time of Kumbh Mela (a fair held in every 12 years). Ganga aarti is the must sightseeing where lights and flowers are offered.
  • Bharat Mata Mandir, Haridwar: It is a holy tourist sight founded by swami Satyamitranand Giri. The construction of this temple is unique as it is built in 8 stories. It represents a specific theme and is devoted to various legends and deities of India. The environment is serene and eye-catching. It is a wonderful place for tourist and a must visiting place.
  • Chandi Devi Temple, Haridwar: Chandi Devi Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Chandi Devi. It is located atop the picturesque Neel Parvat of the Sivalik Hills in Haridwar. The king of Kashmir built this temple in 1929. It is one of the holiest and oldest temples in Haridwar as well as in India. It attracts a lot of tourist from all over India.
  • Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary, Haridwar: It is a part of Rajaji National Park located at a distance of 10km from Haridwar. Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1977. The scenic beauty and lush greenery attracts many wildlife lovers. Some of the wildlife of many kinds includes – Tigers, barking dear, wild boar, langur, ghural, sloth bear, leopard etc.
  • Sapt Rishi Ashram, Haridwar: Sapt Rishi Ashram is one of the popular Ashrams in the holy cities of Haridwar. As Haridwar is well known for many temples and Ashrams, Saptrishi Ashram is a beautiful place where 7 great sages or Saptarishis, namely Kashyapa, Vashisht, Atri, Vishwamitra, Jamadagni, Bharadwaja and Gautam said to have meditated. It is an important Ashram which is attractive and traditional.
  • Shantikunj, Haridwar: It is a world-renowned ashram which has emerged over the years as a center of the global movement of Yug Nirman Yojana for moral- spiritual regeneration. It is also the headquarters of all World Gayatri Pariwar. It is a major spiritual place located in Haridwar. It attracts a lot of tourist across the world because of its spiritual guidance.
