Jim Corbett National Park is the proud of Uttarakhand situated in the foothills of the Himalayas surrounded by lush greenery and high mountains. The original name of this park was ‘Hailey National Park’. It was established in 1936 to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. Later in 1957, it was renamed as Jim Corbett National Park after James Edward Corbett, who was a British- India hunter and killed the most endangered man-eater Bengal tigers. During his life, he killed many man eater tigers and leopard and became popular and authored few books namely Man-Eaters of Kumaon, Jungle Lore, and others. Jim Corbett National Park is famous for nature lovers and for professional photographer. It draws a huge number of tourist offering excellent sightseeing. Being the India’s first national park, it is renowned for most majestic leopards and elephants. There are over 50 mammal species, 585 bird species and 25 reptiles. It is one of the best destination for ecotourism that sustain the livelihood of the local people. Tourist can experience jeep safari and explore some endangered species in the jungle. Most of the tourist are attracted by the captivating landscape of Jim Corbett where more than thousand visitors come here from different parts of India.
