Ranikhet is a well-known hill station where tourists are mesmerized by the natural beauty of Ranikhet. Literally means “Queen’s Meadow”. It is an idyllic hill station discovered and built by the British in 1869. According to Legends, the name Ranikhet got its name from Rani Padmini, who was the queen of Raja Sukhdev. It is said that once the queen visited this beautiful place. Visiting this place, she decided to reside here as she was captivated by its natural beauty. It came under the British rule after it was ruled by the local Kumaoni rulers. This was a popular hill station as a retreat during summer and established a cantonment in this hill station in1869 for their troops. Wonderful view of the snow-cladded mountains offers an excellent opportunity to spend some quality time with near and dear ones. It is one of the best hill station to escape from hustle and bustle of city life. There are many tourist attractions in Ranikhet that keeps attracting tourists from different parts of India country as well as from abroad. Some of the major attractions of Ranikhet are - Jhula Devi Temple, Nanada Devi Temple, Rani Jheel, Mankameshwar Temple, Upat and Kalika and others. 

Main Attractions
  • Jhula Devi Temple & Ram Mandir, Ranikhet: Jhula Devi Temple and Ram Mandir are the temples which was constructed during the 8th century AD. It is one of the oldest temple situated at Ranikhet. These temples are dedicated to Goddess Durga (Hindu Goddess of Power) and another temple is dedicated to Lord Ram. Devotees from all over India come here for worship that attracts a lot of tourist.
  • Rani Jheel, Ranikhet: Rani Jheel is a mysterious lake in Ranikhet. It is a popular tourist attraction which was constructed by the cantonment board of Indian army. The water is used for rainwater harvesting. Tourist can also avail boating and enjoy the calmness and serenity of nature.
  • Mankameshwar Temple, Ranikhet: Mankameshwar Temple is a Hindu temple which was built in 1978 by Kumaon Regimental Centre. It is located near the Rani Jheel. Tourist can enjoy a pleasant weather throughout the year.
  • Chaubatia Orchard, Ranikhet: Chaubatia Orchard is also called as Chaubatia Gardens. It is located at 08km from Ranikhet Bus Stand. Famous for its fruit gardens, it is one of the most attractive locations of Ranikhet. Literally, Chaubatia means the junction of 4 paths. The serene environment and natural beauty of this place makes it an excellent place for a picnic with the family.
  • Upat and Kalika, Ranikhet: To unwind from the monotonous daily life, Upat and Kalika are the ideal place an ideal site for picnics and weekend getaways. Upat is known for its Army Golf courses and Kalika is known for the Goddess Kalika Temple. The picturesque beauty of this place attracts every traveller.
  • Haidarkhan Babaji Temple, Ranikhet: It is a popular tourist attraction in Ranikhet. Haidarkhar Babaji Temple is also called as Babaji or Bhole Baba. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Haidarkhan is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva. There is an Ashram established between 1970 and 1984.
