Hastinapur is a historical tourist destination located on the right bank of the river Ganga. It is also considered as holy place where there are many ancient temples of bygone era. The name Hastinapur has been taken from two Sanskrit word Hastina means elephant and puram means city. It is an ancient town and ‘The seat of Kauravas’. This is the place where the epic Mahabharata have taken place in the city of Hastinapur. It was the capital of the Kuru dynasty of kings. This was the capital of the Kauravas and the Pandavas. This is the place where entire epic of Mahabharata (The Hindu Epic) took place.  According to excavation, it has a great historic importance. Apart from Hinduism it has also become an important pilgrimage place for the Jains as it is also the birth place of three Jain Teerthankara. Hastinapur is said to be the Kashi of Jain religion. It is fascinating in its own way as it has kept alive the mythology of India. There are some great tourist places to visit such as - Pandaveshwar Mahadev Temple, Kailash Parvat, Jain Jambudweep Mandir, Digamber Jain Bada Mandir and other local sightseeing.

  • Ashtapad, Hastinapur: Ashtapad is a religious place for Jainism. It exists in the high mountain range of Himalayas. The Jains made a replica of Ashtapad in Hastinapur. It is believed that people who visits this place attains salvation. It is a beautiful sight to visit. 
  • Jambudweep Jain Tirth, Hastinapur: It is another religious place which has a huge complex that consists of various temples. Some of them are quite big. There is also a meditation hall within the campus. Some of the fascinating temples are - The Sumeru Parvat, Teen Lok Temple, Lotus Temple. 
  • Digamber Jain Bada Mandir, Hastinapur: Hastinapur is a pilgrimage tourist destination. Digamber Jain Baba Mandir is one of the oldest temples in Hastinapur situated on a 40ft. high hillock. Many devotees comes here every year from all over India. By visiting this temple, one can witness the huge statue of Bhagwan Shantinath poised in a Padmasan.
  • Hastinapur National Park, Hastinapur: This sanctuary was founded in the year 1986. It has notified as wildlife sanctuary to protect ecology 25 years ago. This Sanctuary is a haven for migratory birds. There are over 350 species of birds. There are some other inhabitants such as - the sloth bear, jackal, wild pig and the lesser cats- fishing cat etc.
