Mathura-Vrindavan are two most popular tourist destinations in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Mathura is also known as land of Lord Krishna.  The twin cities of Mathura and Vrindavan are about 56 km from Agra. It is called as Lord-Krishna’s Janma-Bhoomi.  Literally it means ‘Lord Krishna's birthplace’. It has a great religious sanctity among the Hindus. This religious place is also mentioned in one of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Mathura holds many fascinating facts beside being a religious place. The peaceful and cultural environment allure thousands of tourists from all over India. Sri Krishna is the sole idol which made Mathura a heavenly abode. 
Vrindavan is another pilgrimage place where Lord Krishna spent his childhood time. Every square foot of Mathura-Vrindavan is enfolded in timeless devotion to Lord Krishna. Vrindavan. It is popular for Krishna and Radha’s raas-leela. Apart from this there are several temples where maximum devotees are attracted by the scent of spiritualism. Vrindavan, Mathura is among the very few divine touched cities across the world.
 
Main Attractions
  • Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple Complex: It is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Uttar Pradesh. It is believed that this temple is situated at the place where Lord Krishna was born and the result of many excavations has tried to prove this belief. Small shrines of various gods and goddesses are seen here within the colossal structure.
  • Lord Dwarikadheesh Temple: It is one of the oldest and largest temples of Mathura city. The temple is having a good large premise with the main building enclosed by a magnificently carved Rajasthani style that attracts a lot of tourist from all over India. Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the major pilgrimages of the Hindus. The temple has the images of all gods and goddesses.
  • Mathura Government Museum: It is another popular Government Museum founded by F.S. Grouse in 1874. The collection of Kushana art is considered to be the finest in the world. The Museum has also fine collections of stone sculpture and terracotta, gold, silver and copper coins, clay seals, ancient pottery, paintings and bronzes. The museum remains closed on every Monday.
  • Vishram Ghat: Vishram Ghat is one of the important ghats in Mathura. It is believed that journey to Mathura is incomplete without visiting this ghat. It is the main ghat of Mathura and is central to 25 other ghats. The Vishram Ghat is lined with elegant temples. Evening aarti is the main attraction at the Vishram Ghat. It is a bathing ghat where devotees take dip into the sacred water to get rid of all sin.
  • Prem Temple: It is one of the most popular temple in Vrindavan. It was shaped by Jagadguru Shri Kripaluji Maharaj in 2001.The lavishness and mesmerizing architecture attracts a lot of tourist. The temple is two storeys, first floor is dedicated to Lord Ram and Sita and immortal Hanuman ji.
  • ISKCON Temple: It is another popular and magnificent temple in Vrindavan built by the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) society temple. The main idol is the Lord Krishna. Best time to visit this temple is in the month of September and October. Holi is the important festival where tourist can experience the eternal bliss of love and liberation.
  • Bankey Bihari Temple: Shri Bankey Bihari temple is a Hindu temple. This temple is also dedicated to Lord Krishna. Legends says that Lord Krishna appeared in front of Swami Haridas and blessed him in Nidhivan. It is an ancient temple which was rebuilt in 1864. Janamashtami and Holi are the main festivals that are celebrated with various lights and flowers in the temple.
