Jaisalmer is a major tourist city in the state of Rajasthan, lies in the heart of Thar Desert, which is the Great Indian Desert. This city is crowned with several forts, palaces, ancient temples and buildings. The name Jaisalmer means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". The name has been derived from Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king. He ruled this region in 1156 AD. Jaisalmer is popularly known as the ‘Golden city of India’ and a World Heritage Site. It was the part of the famous Silk Route during the days of yore. This royal city is the gateway to the Thar Desert most notable for its incredible yellow stone architecture. In the mid of 12th century, this Golden City was established by Rawal Jaisal. It has emerged as a slice of royal heritage from incredible Rajasthan. If you want to experience the royal Jaisalmer, one should visit this place during festivals. During festivals, the place become more lively with folk dance and music, Sam Sand Dunes, camel breeding and so on from which one can witness the culture and tradition of this beautiful city.   • Jaisalmer Fort, Jaisalmer:  Jaisalmer is a fortified city in the world. It is famous for Jaisalmer Fort. It is a major tourist attraction in the state of Rajasthan, built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal. The name of this fort has been derived from this ruler Rawal Jaisal. The fort is on Trikuta Hill and stands amidst the sandy expanse of the great Thar Desert. There is a Jain temple inside the fort.
  • Patwon-Ki-Haveli, Jaisalmer: It is one of the largest havelis in the city of Jaisalmer. It is also known as Kothari's Patwa Haveli, constructed in the year 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa. It is truly an outstanding piece of architecture built in red sandstone in the period between 1800 and 1860 AD. It is one of the most popular attractions in Jaisalmer.
  • Gadisar Lake, Jaislamer: Gadisar Lake is an artificial lake in Jaisalmer. This lake was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal. It is a major tourist destination in Jaisalmer. The lake can be visited at any time of the day where one can The best time to visit the Gadisar Lake is between the months of October to March.
  • Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Jaislamer: Salim Singh Ki Haveli is also known as Moti Mahal. It was built by Salim Singh in 1815. It is a must visit tourist place while visiting Jaisalmer. This havelis is believed to be 300 years old where one can witness the old magnificent piece of architecture.
  • Khaba Fort, Jaisalmer: While taking tour to Jaisalmer, one must visit Khaba fort, one of the historical fort in Rajasthan. It’s an architecturally impressive landmark full of eeriness, history and mysticism.
